Food was good. A bit pricey though. Understaffed so don’t expect proper customer service. Update 1 year later: Ordered the Miso glazed sous vide salmon as it looked good on menu. Unfortunately it was incredibly bland but I guess it is healthy. Won’t be returning here for food again.

Came here for dessert. We tried the Signature Matchaya Yuzu Cake and Hojicha Soft Serve. Signature Matchaya Yuzu was nice and yummy. Cake was not too sweet and the matcha taste was quite strong too. I love the combination of the layers from the cookie crumble with matcha sponge, matcha mousse, white chocolate mousse, while the yuzu curd was refreshing and it paired well with all the components. Hojicha Soft Serve was also lovely. Strong hojicha taste and I like the bitterness of it. Nice environment and service was okay. On the next visit: -We take away Hojicha Mousse with Yuzu Jelly Cake. It’s a lovely and delicious cake too, has strong hojicha taste with combination of yuzu jelly in the middle, nice pairing. -We tried their Matcha Soft Serve. It has strong matcha flavour, bitter and not too sweet. Very nice. Portion was decent too. -We ordered the Matcha Parfait. It was so good and yummy. Perfect combination between the strong matcha soft serve with azuku red bean, rice puffs, matcha granola, shiratama dumpling and the matcha warabimochi.

I had Koicha here. Very authentic Uji matcha place. bought 250g matcha powder after.

Good selection of matcha related drinks, desserts, also there’s main courses (don’t think they are matcha related though) Price ranges from below $10 onwards. Order at the counter and they serve to your table. The tables for the side sofas are too low though. It’s a bit uncomfortable although the sofa seat is comfy. Matcha mocktails from $12 and ice cream from $6++. Taste is very strong matcha. If you like matcha you’ll enjoy it or else you’ll think it’s quite bitter. If you’re a fan of matcha, it’s a great place to try. There’s also coffee and other teas if you’re not a matcha fan. Location is on higher floors of Takashimaya building on the corner. So it’s not too noisy or crowded.

I went to SG for a holiday and visit my boyfriend here. I did search many matcha cafe in SG and I found many interesting matcha cafe. One of them is Matchaya in Takashimaya mall, located at 3rd floor. I tried to use a local transportation,bus to take me here. Almost a hour. And i couldn't wait to try the cake and their matcha. Once i arrived here, there was a promotion, buy one drink, free one pastry. I love the promotion! I ordered Cold Signature Koicha Milk with 50% sugar and also their Signature Matchaya Yuzu Cake. In my opinion as a matcha lover and have been trying many matcha cafe. I think the drink is standard flavour, not too bitter as i knew how smooth taste of the matcha, how good quality of the matcha powder. If you couldn't taste the bitterness, mean they use high quality of the matcha powder. For the cake, oh my...i love it. I think it's very good combination that they combine matcha with yuzu curd, sweet and a bit bitter of matcha, contrast with a sourness of yuzu. Perfect! And most importantly, all their staffs here were so friendly ans welcoming. I suggest you guys should try and you will love it like i do! :)

Matchaya is a gem in town. Dropped by to buy hojicha powder as I was into making of own hojicha latte these days. Ordered hojicha milk & matcha milk together with a hojicha lava cake for my daughter & myself. Hojicha milk was rich with a deep, satisfying flavor. The hojicha lava cake is a must try for hojicha lovers. The hojicha sauce within is soft & buttery. Not too sweet n it makes everything feel just right.

I would only recommend this place for drinks and snacks like most of its customers there. We decided to give it a try for a proper meal and was disappointed. Limited choices in the menu and it is pricey, considering the small portions.

Cool place to chillax, with comfortable environment and well spaced out seats. The fries were amazing!

Matchaya has very nice soft serve ice cream! We tried the matcha and Houjicha Soft Serve (Cup $6, Cone $7 before GST). It's spacious and well litted. Nice interior design. Water is chargeable at 50 cents each cup so I didn't order.

When I ordered the koicha (thick tea), the staff was there to explain that the tea is thick and bitter, just in case it's the first time you're drinking it. It's a good thing, since not everyone would have tried it before. It was as thick and bitter as it should be, in contrast to the other drink that we had (matcha milk). Both were good, in their own ways, and up to their usual standards. Though the takoyaki was a let down, seems to be either those frozen ones that was reheated, refried or something. The outside shell was thick and over fried. While I wouldn't order it again, the matcha and koicha were great. Service is fast and friendly too, and the place was quiet.
