Came across the Matcha Bun by chance the other day, and as a matcha gurlie myself - it looked too amazing to give it a miss. When I say that it has everything a matcha bun could ever exist to check all the boxes, I'm definitely not kidding. What caught my attention was the fact that it had matcha lava within the bun inside, and I was pleasantly surprised by the slight addition of chocolate custard too. And when you thought that such a bun would be too jelak - the sweet and crunchy white chocolate matcha topping gave the bun even more texture. And don't forget the matcha dusting for a nice kick of slight bitterness to balance it all out too! Highly recommended to eat it at home though because you'll in for a ride of an amazing messy treat.

Salted pepper ham potato bun looks unusual. Tastes great- soft bread with generous amount of fillings. Bought one just to try out. Did not disappoint. Reasonably priced.

I love St Leavens at Taka! Same family brand as Four Leaves and Country Brot, but I always come to this branch to get my bakes! It has such a homely taste to it, much prefer them to Breadtalk. I love the soft buns filled with chicken and egg mayo! Super delicious!!! The walnut brownies with chocolate coating is so good! Rich and not too sweet. So many many goodies here!! Have been buying for years! Staff is also very efficient, polite and courteous.

Saint leaven is under the Four Leaves group, with similar breads at exponential prices. They offer a larger variety, with premium ingredients like mentaiko, Japanese style sandwiches etc. They also roll out new flavours which are not in the heartland bakeries too, so you can keep an eye out for new breads!

Tried the Chocolate Old Fashioned Donut from St Leaven, and it honestly exceeded expectations. The donut has a beautifully crisp and crunchy exterior with just the right amount of density — that satisfying old-fashioned texture that pairs so well with a hot drink. It’s dipped in a generous layer of dark chocolate glaze, which is smooth, slightly bitter, and perfectly balanced — not overly sweet like most donuts elsewhere. What really impressed me is the value for money — at just $1.90, it feels like an absolute steal given the quality. If you’re looking for a quick, affordable, and satisfying treat while shopping in Orchard, this is a must-try. Will definitely be back to explore more from their range of Japanese-style pastries!

St. Leaven bakery is a bakery with no seating available. It is located at the basement of Ngee Ann City Mall and at the same side as the Taka departmental store. It has a wide variety of bread and some pastry for purchase. The brownie is so nice. The cheese bread is crunchy and huge! The cashier staff are nice and friendly. Bought multiple bread variety at this bakery:)

The melted cheese focaccia here is the goat.. so fragrant with a decent amount of actually liquefied cheese. I always go out of my way to buy it and can never resist eating it on the spot. And the cashiers here are the best at their job

One of my favourite bread outlet so far. Nice bread and reasonable price with the bread size and amount filling inside. And many varieties and choices of breads, freshly baked daily. Many people’s favorite too I guess. The popular here is the matcha bun, very nice. Must try.

This is another Japanese style bakery in orchard. Because I am a BAGUETTE 🥖 lover so we I saw their baguette I really want to try. I bought their baguette and thick toast. The toast is too soft which I don’t like and it taste like essence smell over wheat 🌾. And for the baguette it’s too dense and no tender. So overall I think it’s better to try their sweet bread. There is another Japanese style bakery in the other corner will try that next time.
