St. Leaven Bakery at Takashimaya Food Village brings artisanal handmade baking to Basement 2 of Ngee Ann City. Located at #B208-1-2, this bakery has earned a loyal following for products crafted by bakers using the finest ingredients, displaying genuine passion for good baking rather than mass-produced shortcuts.
The bakery's menu features an appealing range of breads, pastries, and cakes that balance creativity with comfort. Popular items include the matcha bun—soft bread filled with generous matcha cream and dark chocolate, priced around S.30 and available in limited quantities daily. The shiok pan offers local flavour innovation, while apple croissants and milk buns filled with lava-like custard demonstrate classic pastry techniques executed with precision.
What makes St. Leaven distinctive is its handmade approach in an era of industrial bakery production. Each item shows the touch of human hands and the judgment of experienced bakers rather than automated uniformity. The bakers' passion is evident in the thoughtful flavour combinations, quality of ingredients, and consistent execution that keeps customers returning despite Takashimaya's many food options.
The food court location makes St. Leaven accessible for quick breakfasts, coffee breaks, or impulse purchases during shopping trips. The reasonable prices for artisanal quality—many items under S—make trying multiple creations feasible without significant investment. For Singapore's growing community of bakery enthusiasts, St. Leaven provides reliable quality without the premium pricing of standalone patisseries, while still delivering products that rival specialised bakeries.
This is another Japanese style bakery in orchard. Because I am a BAGUETTE 🥖 lover so we I saw their baguette I really want to try.
I bought their baguette and thick toast.
The toast is too soft which I don’t like and it taste like essence smell over wheat 🌾. And for the baguette it’s too dense and no tender.
So overall I think it’s better to try their sweet bread.
There is another Japanese style bakery in the other corner will try that next time.

Tried the Chocolate Old Fashioned Donut from St Leaven, and it honestly exceeded expectations.
The donut has a beautifully crisp and crunchy exterior with just the right amount of density — that satisfying old-fashioned texture that pairs so well with a hot drink. It’s dipped in a generous layer of dark chocolate glaze, which is smooth, slightly bitter, and perfectly balanced — not overly sweet like most donuts elsewhere.
What really impressed me is the value for money — at just $1.90, it feels like an absolute steal given the quality. If you’re looking for a quick, affordable, and satisfying treat while shopping in Orchard, this is a must-try.
Will definitely be back to explore more from their range of Japanese-style pastries!

St. Leaven bakery is a bakery with no seating available. It is located at the basement of Ngee Ann City Mall and at the same side as the Taka departmental store. It has a wide variety of bread and some pastry for purchase. The brownie is so nice. The cheese bread is crunchy and huge! The cashier staff are nice and friendly. Bought multiple bread variety at this bakery:)

The melted cheese focaccia here is the goat.. so fragrant with a decent amount of actually liquefied cheese. I always go out of my way to buy it and can never resist eating it on the spot. And the cashiers here are the best at their job

A wide variety of breads here. Love their donuts too. Don’t really see old fashioned donuts often.
Curry bun & a new chilli crab bun was not bad. Chilled sandwiches are also great, lots of filling!
Many bakeries in Orchard but I always return to this one!

Nice variety of cakes to choose from, and the price is very reasonable. We ended up getting the original strawberry cake 🍓, and there are fresh strawberries inside the cake too. Delicious!!
Candles are provided, you just need to let them know how many you need.
