Service: 7/10 Ambience: 8/10 Location: 7/10 Food: 7/10 Damage: $210 for 2 pax Ordered 2 lunch sets, 1 tempura set and one sashimi set. We were placed in a private room because we ordered 2 different sets. Room is simple yet cosy. Walls were a thin as we can hear others from other rooms. Service by the staff was acceptable, checking regularly if we were finished so they can serve the next course. Sashimi set was fresh and well explained when brought to us. Tempura tasted fresh too and batter was fried to perfection. Loved the mochi dessert at the end, interesting sweet taste that ended the meal well.

Chef Fei’s tempura is both a feast for the palate and the eyes. He has a deft hand with the batter. And his control of the heat makes the tempura crisp with the right doneness so you can still taste the freshness of the ingredients.

Went here for a birthday celebration and the food was amazing. Everything is fresh and we had the best service from staff as well. Recommended to choose counter seat as part of the experience was seeing the food being prepared and the chef explained the dish to us before serving which really elevates the omakase experience. Thank you for the kind service and we recommend this place!

Very well executed Tempura Omakase. Fresh seasonal ingredients in a delicate tempura batter that hardly left any residual oil on the paper. The uni on shishi leavi tempura was heavenly.

Been a while not visiting Mizuki for their tempura lunch, I got to say it seemed to improve than my last visit. We had the private room for our Seasonal Tempura lunch. Starting with delish mini appetizer of sashimi, tamagoyaki and fish roe. Continued with excellent seaweed chawanmushi which was silky and smooth. Started our tempura with the ebi and eggplant, scallop and sweet potatoes, white fish, unagi and enoki mushrooms, and with mini kakiage don ( not in photos) and completed with goma ice cream. I couldn't fault any of the tempura dishes, it was cooked perfectly served with salt, curry powder and the tempura sauce, which the staff would recommend which to try on every dish. The only minus point sitting in private room was the staff must open and close the door to check if we have finished each of our dish before serving the next one. But would love to return here when tempura cravings hit..

My all time favourite Japanese food restaurant. Located at Lv4 of Ngee Ann City above Takashimaya, this is the premium line of Tampopo (B2). Expect to shell out around $50-80/pax if you’re ordering sashimi. Personally I think the best dish is Katsu Don (black pork). I can’t seem to find a better katsu don elsewhere. Also, the salmon sashimi is also worth mentioning, where the best cut (salmon belly) is just amazing. Can also try their mentai sushi roll and chirashi don. Overall, no regrets! Can’t find a more well rounded Japanese food place perfect for family gatherings.

TLDR; Mediocre food, high prices, terrible service - what a lethal combo! I used to go to Tampopo at Liang Court ages ago when I was younger so thought I’d give this a try. The waitress was a bit brusque but no worries, I got a table with my 3 year old who needed a high chair. Opened the menu and - it was pretty pricey - a lot of the dishes cost between 30 - 60. There was also no ramen which Tampopo was known for, no worries hence the ‘grand’ right ? I actually wanted to leave at this point but my son refused (toddlers, sigh) so I ordered a $9 chawan mushi and $22 vegetable soba for him first while narrowing down my own choices. 1. The chawan mushi was tiny, in a tea cup, and hence overpriced I felt 2. I tried to order a shabu shabu dish (hotpot) but was informed I could not because my table has no stovetop burner. The same brusque waitress just kept saying she had asked me if I wanted the booth seat and I did not want it because I needed a high chair (she did ask once at the start but never explained that I would need the stovetop burner if I wanted to order a shabu dish lol) The table next to me (who had been seated later than me) had a burner and their food had not arrived yet - so they could have swapped tables with me, but she seemed horrified at the thought of disturbing them (seems like one of them was a regular customer and she was very chummy with them). I thought about asking them to swap tables (I don’t think they would have minded) but decided not to bother and not to order for myself. 3. The soba came. The good thing was that it was a big bowl, the bad thing was that it was really soggy and overcooked, with a couple of carrot slices, mushrooms, lots of leeks and cabbages. I think I could have cooked it myself. 4. I was now glad I didn’t order the shabu dish due to the super bad service otherwise I would be stuck there for a longer time and it probably wouldn’t be good anyway. 5. A lady at the table next to us got super angry cos her kids food took forever to come. The staff managed her situation poorly and she started saying very loudly that she would never come back. 6. My feelings exactly! Plus the atmosphere was dingy, and my water was only refilled when I asked for it.

Overall a pretty pricey meal, but the food quality here is good. The sashimi was fresh and generously sliced, which we appreciated. I enjoyed the soft shell crab roll very much, which had tobiko and was generous with their soft shell crab. The squad was well grilled, and not chewy at all. Pork cutlet was well fried and not too oily. It was also crisp on the outside. Point to note is that they charge $5 for a bottle of homemade iced green tea and won’t refill it.
