I had the milk fish soup noodle at The Ship Restaurant (Shaw Centre) and really enjoyed it. The broth was flavorful, the fish was fresh and crispy, and the portion was generous. The lunch set price are very affordable, especially for Orchard Road. The restaurant has a nostalgic charm, though a little old-school. Overall, a satisfying and value-for-money meal—I’d happily come back.

The Ship Restaurant is a true Singaporean "Old School" ("老字号") legend. It has been at Shaw Centre for as long as I can remember, and stepping inside—with its nautical decor and bustling atmosphere—feels like a comforting blast from the past. ​The menu is a great mix of Hainanese-Western classics and local favorites, which makes it perfect for family meals where everyone wants something different. ​For the Ladies: The women in my family swear by the Special Sliced Fish Noodles. It’s a comforting, milky broth served with fried fish on the side—a lighter option that never disappoints. ​For the Meat Lovers: I personally usually go for the Australian Prime Ribeye Steak (240g), which is always reliable. On this visit, I opted for the US Pork Chops. It was executed perfectly—grilled nicely on the outside but still juicy and tender on the inside. ​We ordered the Set Lunches, which are excellent value. They come with the full works: a warm bun with butter, a soup of the day (creamy mushroom this time), a drink, and a dessert choice of ice cream or cake. ​Despite being packed at meal times, the service remains prompt and efficient. It’s a reliable classic that I’ll keep coming back to.

This is my go-to budget friendly restaurant for a set lunch or set dinner. Reasonable in terms of price for mains like steak, chicken chop, surf n’ turf, but my fav is still the fried fish bee hoon set lunch that includes coffee and dessert, all for just $13.90. They are usually quite full during lunch hours so either go early at 11am or pre-book a table to ensure a seating.

I ordered the chicken chop set lunch on Sunday , it comes with bread , soup , drink, ice cream or pie and the main dish. Cost only $14.90 c. Chicken chop is juicy. Waiting time is abt 15 mins on a busy Sunday 👍 Support our local founders for the cheap yet good quality food.
