Buyer beware! Crumpler Singapore does not have a physical service centre and request for repairs are done online. I wrote in to request for a repair on the shoulder straps of my backpack in May this year and have yet to receive a reply. Sent again in Aug and still not reply. Brings the Lifetime Warranty claims into question. The store staff can't accept the item and they don't even know where the service centre is or even if it actually exist! Bad one Crumpler Singapore.
I was very happy with the bag but definitely they need more information in terms of tax claiming when you leave Singapore. After buying my bag, I request the tax return ticket for when I leave Singapore and the man at the counter told me that because I was leaving on the 3rd of January 2024, and I was buying the bag on the 30 Dec 2023, I couldn't claim tax. Absolutely wrong, I was completely able to do it... My partner bought a watch in another store and we could claim tax when leaving Singapore.
The male salesman was not service oriented at all. First of all, I accidentally knocked down one of the bag displayed at the bench and apologised immediately to the salesman and he gave me a dirty look and without replying me, went to place back the bag. Secondly, I went to look at the sales item corner and asked if that was the only colour available, he told me off to go to the usual priced items with other colours instead. Throughout, there was not a smile or sincerity in serving me as a customer. Thirdly, when I checked with him the price of a backpack, he told me the wrong pricing. I checked the tag and asked him for rectification, he told me off that he had said the exact price as shown on the tag. He gave me the feeling that he was too proud as the 'owner' of the store to admit his mistake or to serve customers whom he thought might not be able to afford. In the end, I bought 2 bags worthed about $400 then he softened up a bit in his attitude. If not my son wanted the bags, I would not have purchased any from him at all. What a lousy shopping experience in Crumpler ION!!!
I'm also a salesperson myself. Today, while shopping here, I felt really uncomfortable and angry due to the salesperson's words. The salesperson handed a green bag for my son to try on, and I thought the style was practical and nice. Realized there was a black option for the bag, I asked my son which color he liked: black or green? My son said he liked green, but I mentioned three times to him that green is hard to match.
At that moment, the salesperson's tone, expression, and attitude changed. the salesperson said, “Green is the easiest color to match in the WORLD!!!! Green can match purple! Kids should have more colors!” Then he immediately brought out a new green bag. he knows i will consume but this kind of sales service attitude!!
I just awkwardly smiled in response but was very angry inside. I didn't want to argue with him. I'm a mother, and my son was distracted by the store's camera decorations, so he wasn't focused on choosing colors. twice about his preference and explained the differences between green and black. In the end, my son still chose green, so I bought it. I respect my child's choices. I'm mum who will respect child's and I could have not asked him if I didn't want his input. Also, I know how to coordinate colors. Everyone's taste is different. I think green is easiest color to match in your world!!
It’s surprising that Crumpler has such a salesperson, and this sales technique really scares me !especially in the Orchard Ion area. Crumpler management, please consider reviewing the attitude of your sales staff through CCTV zoom-in.
Disappointing experience with the male staff.
During our first visit, we noticed that the display bag was badly scratched. When we brought it up, the male staff dismissed it, claiming all bags had such scratches. However, we pointed out another bag in better condition, to which he simply replied that it was "rare."
We eventually decided to place an order, but during collection, while my husband was entering his details, the same staff came in and abruptly took the device away without saying a word, forcing my husband to re-enter everything.
This lack of professionalism and courtesy left a very negative impression. Please think twice before visiting.
Decided to pay this old childhood brand a visit while considering a new laptop bag for work. Was served by Daniel in the shop… truly appreciative of the wonderful service provided by him as he walked me through almost 8 different models sharing its different benefits. Great product knowledge! Crumpler! Give this chap a pat on the back! I’ll return soon to make my purchase! Thanks Dan!
I didn’t get anything from this shop because the item was sold out. Nonetheless the sales lady was still friendly and informative with me about the item I was inquiring.
Although the selections is limited but I enjoy the shopping experience very much.
I will never buy anything from Crumpler ever again. Let’s get this right, their luggages cost more than most basic brands but their quality can’t even match up. The rubber on the wheels of my crumpler luggage disintegrated. It literally crumbled all over my store room. I have about 5 luggages and even the ones I’ve had longer than the Crumpler are in usable condition and the rubber on the wheels are still in working condition. This is a joke. I called the ION store and the male stuff who claimed to be the manager, told me wheels are not covered, pls log a case online and pay for servicing. When I tried to explain to him this is not wear and tear, he kept repeating “I understand. You can pay for the wheels repair.” When I said it’s ok then, he let out a laugh. I guess Crumpler’s representatives have attitudes as poor as their product quality. Will never buy anything from Crumpler again.
No problem with the store or staff. The problem is the bag quality. This backpack started to rip at the top of the shoulder strap. I only use this pack with light loads for carryon travel on long flights. I’ve gone through many backpacks in my life from travelling across countries in my youth to up and down big mountains with back busting loads. Never had a pack fail on me. I’m quite surprised, especially for the cost. Looks good, but unfortunately total fail.
I would have to agree with the other customers below. The male associate is a bit off putting and doesn't create a pleasant shopping experience.... I would suggest other stores for duffles, totes, and backpacks if you want to just look around in peace and not feel rushed or abruptly told the price or intent of an item from behind as soon as you pick up one to look at. Does the associate think you are cheap, or is he just trying to help you save time? I don't know, but I've never experienced that anywhere else I've shopped and it comes off rude.
I imagine return policies throughout Singapore are pretty restrictive unlike what I'm used to in other countries, but at least brands sold elsewhere (Boarding Gate, P. Traveller) have better quality construction and fabrics for the price they're charging. The bag I bought here (Froglet) had zippers and lining that easily got caught before I even got to wear it out the house. Furthermore, when I tested packing it with my daily work items at home, all the items fell backwards and bobbed around inside and the laptop sits firmly at an odd angle digging into your bum (not straight up)- and it was nearly $300. I wanted it as it seemed practical and unique, but that's not always indicative of thoughtful build or ergonomics- I would avoid this model as other reviews online mention.
I settled for a Duffle bag for my return- those seldom disappoint, though its material doesn't feel nearly as robust as my Patagonia Black Hole, which is less money for the same size and offers a true lifetime warranty and repair. Crumpler's is a bit vague- ask all the questions before purchasing if you want to make an intentional purchase and don't like waste. I was also told they only accept exchange in store, and when I cited that the website says that in store purchases can be exchanged or give store credit, they denied being able to get store credit which was sus.
Brands like Thule, Bellroy, and Eagle Creek are in the same ballpark of pricing here and offer bulletproof construction, ergonomic build, and more transparent warranties and policies.
Perhaps the best items to buy here are for bikers...
