Yoshinoya The Cathay serves Japan's iconic beef bowl brand that has satisfied hungry diners since 1899 with its signature gyudon—tender simmered beef over steaming rice—alongside other Japanese comfort foods. The restaurant represents over 120 years of consistency and tradition, bringing fast, affordable, and satisfying Japanese meals to Singapore's busy workers and shoppers seeking quality food without lengthy wait times.
The menu centers on Yoshinoya's famous beef bowls in various sizes, prepared with their signature recipe featuring thinly-sliced beef simmered with onions in a sweet-savory sauce served over perfectly cooked Japanese rice. Beyond the classic gyudon, the menu includes chicken bowls, salmon sets, curry rice, udon noodles, and set meals that combine rice bowls with sides like miso soup, salad, and pickles. The straightforward menu, quick service, and consistent quality have made Yoshinoya a reliable choice for generations of diners across Asia.
The casual dining format suits solo diners, groups, and families alike, with counter seating and tables accommodating different party sizes. Yoshinoya's positioning offers compelling value—genuine Japanese flavors at accessible prices with efficiency that respects customers' time, making it a dependable option for satisfying meals throughout the day.

The only server at Cathay told us beef gyudon is sold out, he can give us salmon in exchange, but didnt tell us its salmon cutlet, we thought he meant grill salmon.. he should have told us its salmon cutlet, we will cancel our order, its just a small salmon patty..

Went to order the beef curry, didn’t initially see the paper (not obvious when there were 2 big screen for customers to order). Place the order, Waited for about 15 minutes, The male staff seems to Be busy walking on a big delivery order. Went to the counter, wanted to ask him roughly how long will it take as we are in a bit of a rush. Before even I could finish my sentence, The staff cut me off and say “we don’t have curry, I got put on a paper over there”. Rude tone and seems annoyed.then followed by “ I can still do it, but please don’t do it next time” I do take partial responsibility for not noticing the paper, but ordering kiosk do have the current available and the sign could be more obvious. And I believe after placing the order, the staff is able to see in the kitchen, so I don’t understand why he didn’t Inform me in the first place And let me waited for 15 minutes, until I walked up to him to tell me. He said will take another five minutes to get a meal, so we waited, Until noticed that he didn’t even work on it, and still packing the delivery order, went to the counter for the third time, then he just started to make the meal. When placing the food on plate, He’s clearly giving an attitude by purposely The food harder to make sound. Was serving the karage, his finger (no glove) also touched the chicken. Terrible experience

During lunch hour even though still many seats available, half the order took 30 minutes and the other took a total of 45 minutes, staff seems very unfamiliar with their work

With newly The Cathay food concept. Yoshinoya located at Basement eating level. Ordering machine was simple & fast. There’s even Student Meal on weekdays. Food was tasty & so refreshing soup. More customers will come once Cathay opening publicity reaches out.

I ordered the Chicken Katsu Set for lunch with my work colleagues yesterday for $10.90. At around 12:20pm, while choosing to pay by Nets QR Paynow, the Nets machine seems to have malfunctioned and made a reset. Confused, I waited anyway for the QR code to generate. I eventually paid the $10.90, however I was surprised when the Nets machine did not proceed to show payment received, and consequently the kiosk was stuck at the waiting for payment screen without generating the receipt. My work supervisor eventually helped me to go to the counter to ask the only person who was working at the restaurant, processing orders and cooking. After showing her the payment from my bank account, she assured me and offered to give what I have ordered even though the transaction has not been approved yet. This is a very kind, generous and thoughtful, considering she also had to multitask by cooking for more orders. After fixing the machine, the email confirmation did show up in my email from Nets, confirming that the transaction is successful. Thank you very much, aunty ;D. Food was good, will definitely come again
