I was walking around 313@somerset when I saw this little shop at the basement. I was quite excited to see they are selling martabak (basically Indonesian version of pancake/min Jiang kueh that is more decadent and unhealthy). My normal go-to for martabak is pancake boss at Bugis so decided to give this one a try. I ordered the original and top up $4 for wijsman butter. Total damage is $19.90. A bit on the pricy side when compared to pancake boss. The martabak can easily feed 2-3 people (better to share due to high calories). The martabak is delicious, sweet and a little salty from the cheese. They use good quality chocolate rice (much better than the one used by pancake boss). Nice to see more martabak shops in SG (there is another martabak shop in ION Orchard but I have not tried it). Overall, I highly recommend this shop for your martabak fix.

I was craving “Siomay Bandung” and decided to give this stall a try based on the picture they displayed. Unfortunately, it was nothing like the photo or what I expected. The biggest disappointment was the peanut sauce—it was completely dry, lacking the rich, savory flavor you’d usually get from authentic siomay. The texture of the siomay was also far from ideal. Instead of the familiar fish cake taste, it was overwhelmed by tapioca starch. This definitely doesn’t deserve to be called Siomay Bandung. See my photo for the difference.

Give it 5 stars as the main course were so delicious. The ikan Bakar is nicely done with the kicap manis sauce. Ayam penyet is soft and tasty. Thank for serving us diff sambal as requested. We also ordered original martabak in advanced but the filling still abit bland.

Coming on weekdays lunch time, its quite crowded. I think can only accomodate around 12-18 people. Tried the nasi liwet ayam rica, liked the hint of spiciness and spices. It comes with french bean, tempe tahu orek, shredded egg. Overall liked the taste and it feels fresh and homemade. They also sell martabak manis, which i will try next time...

Edit: I went there when the place was named "Surabaya". I have not been there under the new brand I have been here many times before and today was my first time trying their Fried Tilapia Fish and Terong Balado (not-so-spicy eggplant). The fish was crispy on the outside but meat at the inside was still tender. Its salty taste combined with spiciness of chili and sweetness of black soy sauce is heaven. The eggplant was also tasty although it was not as spicy as expected. But texture was still firm and I guess they put garlic (or fried it with garlic), which gave the garlicky taste which I love a lot. Conclusion, good things come in pairs so you should try them together for guilty (read: oily) pleasure.

Portions were good. Very full after finishing up the meal. Shldnt have ordered the tahu telok but it was good! The chillis were good and the chicken and fish were fried to perfection. Felt like a pig after the meal. Sitting Space is limited so go early to get a seat to eat.

A friend suggested I check out the eateries at Lucky Plaza. So I went and stumbled upon this Ayam Penyet restaurant from Surabaya, Indonesia. Omg, it got to be the best ayam penyet I’ve ever eaten. The flavourful chicken served with crispy flakes is crispy and tender that melts in my mouth. To top it, the fresh bright red sambal is the star. So fiery and tasty that I couldn’t stop dipping the generous amount of chicken, fried tofu and tempe on it. 5 ⭐️.

Served by a really nice lady who double checked my order as I got the bakso meatballs without vermicellia. Really huge juicy roundness which I gobbled down and forgot to take photos. Would really love to try the fish dumplings which were not available when I visited. Wide variety of pancake flavours many of which are tantalising unique combinations.

Hidden away in the bustling Lucky Plaza, Gading Street Food is a great place to find Indonesian food. Delicious food! And not to skip their "martabak manis" (Indonesian min chiang kueh). Available via online delivery too.

Gading Street Food was Warung Surabaya. Located inside Lucky Plaza. They got rebranded from local food Jawa Timur, fried chicken, sayur asam kind of food with new, fresh looking, simple minimalist dynamic concept kind of food stall by selling nasi ayam geprek, nasi gudeg, nasi uduk, and martabak manis with disposable packaging. Their nasi ayam geprek was nice, complete with some stir fried longbean, shredded omelette and spicy sambal, but for nasi gudeg please do not expect that Jawa Tengah (Central Java) type of gudeg, it's also something new for me that used to eat Jawa Tengah / Jawa Timur preserved young jackfruit (gudeg) kind of food. Maybe it's more like Sunda (West Java) kind of food since they sell nasi liwet. When you come to this place you should take it as a new adventure and new experience. It's a great place to get fusion Indonesian food, with great portion and great price. The martabak manis was nice. The good thing is we can request not too sweet since our threshold has changed. The staffs are attentive and friendly. They're actively looking for some suggestion and feedback from the customer.
