I’ve never had a disappointing omakase experience in Singapore, until Sushi-Kyuu. I had high expectations given the high Google ratings but the food was a complete disaster. I ordered the $99+ Kaze course. 1) The portions were shockingly small. I thought I was served miniature food. There is a huge difference between serving refined portions and skimping on ingredients. The photos speak for themselves - the rice portions fell short of a reasonable amount for a nigiri. The overflowing ikura rice “bowl” was in fact presented to me in a measly sake cup. 2) Poor quality of ingredients/food served. Considering the omakase price point, I did not feel like I was eating one. In fact, I could get way better quality sushi from Sushiro. The rice and fish were barely seasoned and too warm while the wasabi tasted cheap from the tube. The monkfish liver tasted like canned tuna and the uni was not fresh at all (see pic) with a bitter aftertaste. The octopus was overcooked, tough and dry. You know something is clearly off when your akemi tastes better than your chutoro. The entire experience to me felt like an insult to authentic Omakase restaurants, whose chefs spend their lifetimes mastering the craft. Sushi-kyuu’s food is reminiscent of a cheap sushi chain under the guise of an omakase restaurant. Trust me, save the trip - your money is better spent at Sushiro.

My partner and I went for our first omakase dinner and it was such a wonderful experience. We had the Tsuki course ($179+), and every dish was beautifully prepared - our tummies were filled with happiness from start to finish. The quality of the food was excellent, and the service was warm and attentive, which we really appreciated. What made it even more special was the surprise birthday cake they presented for my partner - such a thoughtful touch that truly made the evening memorable. We had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to try omakase. Thank you for making our day so special! ^_^

Most of the time, I leave an omakase and I’m still hungry. This wasn’t the case here. The sushis were on point with the chef understanding how to bring the best of each dish. Obviously always go for the counter seat. Chef was warm and the interaction throughout dinner was fun without being intrusive. It’s decent value for the food. Would definitely recommend this place. And chef was accommodating to slight menu changes at the last minute which can be challenging for them.

Recommended by a friend to try this Omakase and I was pleasantly surprised by their serving style. Was attended by Ivan and he’s friendly and amicable and definitely made the experience unique and memorable for us! Happy to return!

Satisfying early dinner with the affordable pricing to enjoy with friends and family. We all were happy with the omakase, the chawanmushi with sakurq shrimps is tasty, the small chirashi with the last soup was a good end to the fast serving meal. Definitely worth to try.

Quaint little izakaya that opens late, tried their uni, oyster garlic fried rice, hamachi sashimi and oysters.. overall flavours are robust and good. However exhaust in the restaurant can be improved, I’ve had smoke in my direction and walked out smelling like grease 😅 had to wash my hair twice Both Chef and the lady are very friendly. The bill that came was a little surprising.. I felt a little over priced based on overall food quality and experience.

Great casual izakaya vibes with kappo style dishes. Great quality produce, seasoned well. Try the ox tongue and oh ...The oysters were AMAZING. Good range of sake that's reasonably priced. Will definitely be back. Note: booking essential and it's not a quiet place.

Food is definitely good and oysters are fresh. The dining experience is very much like a small izakaya in Japan. Its a small place and can probably only stay 10 people at 2 timings. Be patient as there is only 1 chef who prepares food 10 people. Portion are quite decent and most if not all of the dishes we ordered were good.
