Best specialty coffee cafe in Orchard, plus it doesn’t break your wallet. Amazing beans selections, with knowledgeable and kind baristas. Definitely recommend this hidden gem 💎

Had white for Ethiopia ($5) and it's good although flavour is somehow not the same as what the card suggests. The Meiji milk microfoam is smooth, but it's a lil bit burnt. Anyway hospitality and coffee is amazing ☕ will try their filter nextime

Chanced upon this coffee place and my first takeaway iced white was great! Happened to come by again the next day and decided to order again and was pleasantly surprised by the same barista who remembered and called out my order before I could say anything. Small touch but set my whole experience and impression of this coffee place 200% positive! Don't work near here but will definitely come back again. Crowd is just nice, good option to clock in some work here. 👍🏻

My wife and I usually go to the branch at Upper Cross St, but happened to be at Shaw Centre so popped over for coffee after lunch. My wife had her usual decaf flat whie and I had the set (espresso + flat white) of their Benti Nenka #1. The decaf that day was amazing; much more flavour than we're used to that we actually asked the barrista if he had mixed up the two drinks! He smelt it and said nope and we were happy for that; quite tempted to have a 2nd coffee :-) My Benti Nenka was a bit of a let down after that. See the picture, it's a "classic" and tasted exactly like that :-) So I'm not complaining but not as happy as I've been with their other offerings. But done very nicely and good contrast of the espresso for the flavours and the flat white to get more of the sweetness from the milk. Anyway, still one of our favourite coffee places and we'll be back again the next time we're in the area.

Even thou the salted egg pork rice was what got them famous. But it’s the Teochew Hor Fun that got me kept coming back. Their prawn paste chicken was also very good. They should move to a bigger outlet. Due the limited sittings, the queue gets insanely long. The wait can be unbearable. Definitely recommended.

This place always has a long queue and by long, I really mean long so I decided to packet my food and bring it home instead. I ordered the claypot hor fun with sliced fish and the prawn paste chicken. I like that they actually pack the sauce separately for the hor fun, which is very thoughtful because it keeps the noodles from getting soggy. Once I mixed everything at home, the hor fun had a nice smoky wok hei flavour and the fish slices were fresh and tender. The prawn paste chicken was crispy and fragrant, with a good balance of savouriness and that slight fermented prawn aroma that makes it addictive. Even after bringing it home, the chicken still had good crunch, which says a lot about the frying technique. Prices are reasonable given the quality and portion size but the queue is no joke, especially during peak meal times. If you want to skip the wait, packing your food like I did might be the best option. Definitely worth trying if you’re around Orchard and craving some solid zi char dishes.

Orchard has no lack of affordable eats! Unlike what the name suggests, New Station Snack Bar does not sell snacks - it’s an old school tze char store that is hidden at the highest level of Far East Plaza. Seatings are always limited and there’s always a queue forming up outside the store. The taste have not changed much since we started visiting many years ago. We ordered: * Stirred fried french beans with Chye Poh (you can request for more Chye Poh) * Salted egg pork * Thai-style fried beancurd * Stirred fried black bean fish with bitter gourd We requested for more Chye Poh for the stirred fried French beans with Chye Poh, and we were told that it will be more salty. In actual fact, we found that it was more sweet than salty but the fragrance of the chye poh complements the well fried French beans. Salted egg pork was solid as usual - Pork was adequately fried without being too greasy and it was topped with a generous amount of salted egg sauce that is savoury and not too salty. Thai-style fried beancurd tastes ordinary, but what is commendable is that the amount of Thai sweet-chilli sauce and vegetables. We were slightly disappointed by the Stirred fried black bean fish with bitter gourd. The black bean sauce was slightly too salty, and actually we didn’t see a lot of fish slices within the dish. So on that front, we thought it was a bit expensive. We paid S$58.60 for all the 4 dishes + 3 plates of rice which we thought was relatively affordable given the more expensive options around. Regardless, New Station Snack Bar is a staple Tze char option if you’re in Orchard area. You will not be disappointed!

This place is definitely a gem. We reached around 11.45am and it was almost full. The food definitely deserves five stars. The salted egg pork chop was definitely phenomenal. The pork chop was very tender and they gave just enough sauce. I would have preferred a much stronger tasting sauce with more kick, but I think their version is okay also. The Teo chew hor fun or Teo chew kuey teow was also good. Definitely got wok hei. I like it as it is hard to find a white version these days. The wok hei is really strong, and it definitely resembles the wok hei of a good penang char kuey teow. The kum hiong lala was a bit of a let down tho honestly. Taste was it was okay, but nth phenomenal. Just similar to what your normal zhi char stall can come up with. The staff were polite and patient (something I'm rather pleased with considering this should be a high traffic business). They did not pressure us to leave right after we finished (unlike some who start clearing your plates and tables once you are done eating but not done drinking). As a courtesy, we did not stay to chat after we finished. I gave 5 stars as they have a wow factor in their food (something u can't find just anywhere). They were also polite and friendly which I also liked. Will definitely come back again.

I decided to try the fried udon noodles instead of my usual salted egg pork rib. Oh damn it was good! No regrets. The prawn paste chicken was also nicely marinated. Highly recommend this place!
