Chinese-style cai fan located at the basement of Far East Plaza. One of the most well-priced and good bang for your buck places to eat - loved the mushrooms especially, packed with a flavour and a hint of mala!

Food is really quite good. $7.50 for this. Drinks at $1.80'for a fan of lemon tea. Ate this 2 days in a row. This time tried 3 meat and one egg dish. $9. Good

Review of Shuxiang @ Far East Plaza Shuxiang serves up a Chinese-style Sichuan mixed vegetable rice, or “chai peng,” with a fiery mala twist. I especially love their brown rice—it’s cooked to a soft, fluffy texture, which pairs beautifully with the bold flavours of their dishes. They offer a great variety of delectable Sichuan-style and mala options, from spicy stir-fried vegetables to braised meats and tofu, making every plate customizable to your craving. It used to feel like a value-for-money hidden gem, but with the prices being adjusted multiple times, it has slowly become a rather expensive chai peng.

Good food and decent price in orchard. More 四川style. Portion was pretty good and good staff.

Chinese style chap cai fan. Taste is subjective and ok for me. (fussy eaters can overlook) Price is super reasonable for an air cond environment and comfy seats. 2 plates with 3 dishes each for total of $11. And the portions were generous. One of the cheapest place to have a quick meal in Orchard Rd area.

This is hands down the best budget-friendly Chinese restaurant in town. Whether you’re in the mood for something light and mild or craving bold, flavorful dishes, they’ve got it all. Their menu caters to everyone, from Northern and Southern Chinese flavors to overseas Chinese classics—it’s no wonder it’s a favorite for so many! Whenever I can’t decide what to eat, my legs just instinctively bring me here. The only downside? They close way too early! Would love to have a late dinner here someday.

This place is my company interns' favourite eatery. I thought it was just premium cai fan, but once I tried it myself, I had to agree it's really good. As others pointed out, this is a Sichuan style cai fan. As they're really popular and items move fast, they keep churning out new batches of dishes, so you can be sure to get warm food. The price is also very decent for the location, quality, and portion. I ordered a total of four dishes – two veg, one egg, and one meat – for only $7. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Tried Shu Xiang recently and was pleasantly surprised by how affordable the food was, especially for a place in town — our plates were around $7+ each, which is great value. The dishes were tasty overall. The pork with vegetables was a bit salty for my preference, but the egg omelette with tomatoes really stood out — simple and delicious! One small feedback: it would have been nice to be greeted or guided at the entrance, as we initially wanted to order the fish and lala dishes but ended up going for cai fan instead. Still, it was a good dining experience, and we’d definitely return to try more from their menu when we’re in the area!
