Went to try since we never could understand the hype about unagi. Service was tip top and efficient. I changed my reservations and they accommodated. Ambience was good. Cozy but a little smoky due to the bbq of the unagi. Parking is aplenty in Shaw House. After 6pm is a flat fee of $4. We ordered 2 unagi , 1 egg roll and 1 liver. Let's talk about the egg roll first. Plating, egg wrap done wonderfully well. However egg has no seasoning probably due to chef worry spoil unagi taste. It was flat. But portion was good. The fried liver was excellent. Our first time having it and fried to perfection with a slight salty taste. The unagi set (large) came with a side miss soup with some unfried liver. Liver tasted so good. They tried to Elevate the soup taste with some yuzu and miscellaneous items but I didn't like it. Unagi was huge since we ordered the large portion. Seasoning was good. Not too salty and you can pour more sauce on your own. However the bottom of the unagi was slightly burnt and had a bitter taste. Which basically spoilt the taste. Overall. It's a good try but I won't be coming again. Total bill : $140+ after gst and service charge 2 x unagi set at $48 each set 1 x egg roll 1 x fried liver

Make sure to make reservations as the restaurant is very popular. The staff are all very attentive to our needs and they are also friendly as we saw some of them playing with a baby that came with a couple. The food portion is huge and very much worth the price. The unagi is grilled to perfection and you can even view the cooking process through the glass window looking into the kitchen. I would definitely go again if I have the chance. Non-unagi lovers can eat the tempura set but its 90% unagi filled menu.

Weekday unagi lunch at this Scotts road Japanese outlet. Primarily an unagi menu. We tried the ippon jyu set and a tempura set lunch. Exquisite presentation. Good service. Tables a little too close so waiting staff had to squeeze to delivery huge platters. A little noisy. I liked the unagi but my wife thought it lacked the usual sweetness. The tempura was perfect. Pricey experience.

all the dishes were delectable & we especially loved the shirayuki (the eel without the sauce) you can taste the freshness of the eel & it is even better paired with the wasabi. the staff were all very attentive & friendly :) price is reasonable with its standards too! highly recommend!

No.1 Unajyu in Singapore so far It had been difficult to make a reservation at this restaurant. But I was finally able to visit there. Unajyu was amazing. Unagi was well cooked and very tender. The taste of the source was so good, it was not so sweet, and not so salty. It was flavorful. The service was good. The service staff was very attentive and kind.

The unagi was beautifully cooked — soft, tender, and impressively large. At around $50, the portion felt well worth the price. The accompanying soup, however, was quite plain, and even the refill tasted the same, which was a bit of a letdown. On the brighter side, the sashimi was fresh and premium — the fatty tuna, in particular, was rich and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

If you want to savour fresh grilled eels or Unagi, you should not miss this restaurant. They told me they import live eels from Japan and only slaughter them 30 minutes before the restaurant opens for business each day. They would grill the eels only upon customer order. So there you have it, freshly grilled live Unagi, cannot be any fresher. Also, the serving of the eel is very generous such that I couldn’t finish it and have to give the leftover to my spouse. The eel is meaty, flavourful and well grilled. I prefer adding more Unagi sauce and they would make it taste better. But I think if the eel could be further grilled till crispy on one side, it would be perfect. Overall, food is nice. Ambiance is typical Japanese style and the service is excellent. $$
