I had a sudden craving for sushi and decided to check out Sushi Ryujiro to see the current quality of sushi at the $188++ price point in Singapore. First impressions were not that great because the table felt like cheap wood with a strange curve at the edge, and the disposable paper napkins that they provided instead of the usual cloth ones that such places would provide. The appetizer consisting of somen and sakura ebi was nice, but that was the highlight for a while. The sushi was generally weak and didn't taste that nice for me, until the tuna hand roll and the iwashi that one of the staff recommended, after I wanted to add kohada. Kohada wasn't sour enough for me. The tamago and ice cream was nice. This will probably taste nice to people new to omakase, but at this price point, I think it will be challenging for seasoned eaters to enjoy it.
