First time here, didnt know we can just head in for the empty seats. Place currently only 2 chefs doing everything from cooking, collecting money and other stuffs so do need to be patient. The Set Meals are very worth it, maki and sashimi were great.

We visited Wasabi Tei on a Saturday for late lunch, the walk-in wait was immediate. Ordered the Aburi Salmon Maki ($18), Aburi Cheese Ebi Maki ($14), Kani Karaage ($15), Tori Katsu Tamagotoji Teishoku set ($14), Torikaraage & Soba Goma ($14) and Iced Ocha refillable ($2). There's no service charge and GST here. Payment mode is limited to either Cash or Paynow/PayLah. The Kani Karaage is fried to perfection, it was crispy and flavourful. Aburi Salmon Maki not only looks pretty but tasted fantastic with its unique mango sauce. Aburi Cheese Ebi Maki tasted light, and Ebi inside was very crispy. Tori Katsu Tamagotoji Teishoku set came with rice, a salmon sidedish, miso soup and fruit (either orange or watermelon), it very tasty and appetizing. We polished off everything we ordered, although the Torikaraage & Soba Goma wasn't how we expected it to be, can give this a miss. IMO definitely worth a visit and the price is reasonable for the portion they give. The service here is relatively fast and great, and it's ideal for small group of family/friends as they have very limited seats.

My go to Japanese cuisine at Orchard. Love the sashimi, fresh and worth every buck spent. Lobster salad is also very nice! The cod fish soup is also a must order if you love soupy dish.

Very yummy food and great value! No gst or service charge levied, and yet excellent service throughout. This shop has been around for decades, and it's easy to see why there's always a long queue outside. Go early as there is limited seating but the fresh sashimi and seafood are definitely worth the wait! Especially love the chirashi don and scallop mentaiyaki 🍣🍱

A popular small shop at Far East Plaza serving Japanese food. There was a line waiting before the shop was opened. We had the salmon and chirashi set and added additional abusive salmon sushi and the Mekajiki sashimi. The fish were fresh. The rice for the sushi were a little loose. Service was OK.

This is the 1st time I have eaten sashimi that is tasteless. I find it very weird, the sashimi slices were all very firm and seems fresh... maybe freshly defrosted but lack the umami. The horse radish is also tasteless. No doubt the cuts were thick but...tasteless..I still cant get over it. The sushi chef isn't very hygienic either. Please dry your hands properly after washing before you handle the fish. Not just roughly wipe on the butt of your pants. Your hands were still wet and slimey. Prices match the quantity but not quality. Will not be going back.

Found an extremely cute hole-in-the-wall Japanese eatery on the 5th floor of Far East Plaza. It’s an intimate 15-seater space with only bar counter seats, so expect a queue—we arrived at 6 PM and it was already packed! The highlight is definitely the sashimi; the chef is incredibly generous with thick, juicy slices. Their temaki hand rolls and maki sushi were also packed with rich flavors. A perfect, cozy meal to kickstart the holiday season! Note: they only accept Cash or PayNow.

It's our repeat visit. Ordered different dishes, all was good too. A really value for money Japanese food. Service is fuss free type, old school type of sushi counter bar, the place is pretty small and squeezy that's why the One star deducted. Definitely be back again and again. Must try the Clam Salad and Sashimi platter.

Authentic Japanese dining experience, great food and reasonable prices, especially the weekday lunch set menu. Highly recommended. The chef is experienced and individually prepares each dish. The Negitoro is excellent - my favourite! Thumbs up! Will be back for sure.

Went with my partner at her recommendation as she had tried it before with her friends. What we got: 1. Chirashi Don: Pretty fresh salmon tuna and swordfish (Compared to other Jap restaurants in Singapore, I won’t be comparing to restaurants in Japan) and I like the generous portion 2. Maki Salmon: Very delicious sauce right there hands down one of the best sushi in the shop 3. Fried Clayfish: Love the crispy fish skin while the fish meat literally melts into your mouth. Chef in front of the house also does the billing and ordering, kudos to him for running such a busy shop! No reservations, only walk in so you may need to wait when the 15 seats or so are filled up. Only downside is the seats are very squeezy.
