The Reformer Society at The Cathay delivers high-energy reformer Pilates in a group bootcamp format designed to build strength, stamina, endurance, agility and mobility. Unlike traditional Pilates studios emphasising slow, controlled movements, this concept brings intensity and dynamic energy to reformer work, attracting fitness enthusiasts seeking challenging workouts rather than gentle rehabilitation.
Each 50-minute class combines Pilates principles with power-packed sequences and energising playlists that drive the tempo. Sessions target specific areas, with classes focusing on upper body, lower body or full-body conditioning. The reformer machines provide variable resistance that challenges muscles through their full range of motion, creating effective strength training without heavy weights. This approach appeals to busy professionals wanting efficient workouts that deliver results.
The studio structures monthly sequences with variations, allowing regular members to master exercises progressively while avoiding plateaus. Instructors guide participants through movements at pace, maintaining the bootcamp atmosphere while ensuring proper form. The group format creates community and motivation, with participants pushing through challenging sets together rather than working solo.
Located at The Cathay on Orchard Road, the studio attracts office workers from nearby buildings and residents seeking premium fitness options in the shopping district. Classes are bookable through ClassPass and the studio's own system, providing flexibility for drop-in visitors and committed members. The Orchard location positions reformer Pilates as an accessible lunch-hour or after-work fitness option, competing with traditional gyms through specialised equipment and expert instruction.

As other reviews have shared, while the classes can be quite enjoyable, with only a handful of classes each day and the fact they oversold their packages is hard to get bookings. Despite asking, the management refused to extend my package valid for 4 months longer than a week. I'm glad I know this now because, I wouldn't waste my money - simply not competitive. Go to Strong pilates instead - more professional overall in every respect.

The classes themselves can be decent, depending on the instructor, but I found the overall offering quite limited. With so few class options, 3-4 per day and a short timeframe to use the package, it didn’t feel worth the value to me. You are often on waitlist. I also experienced slower responses from customer service, which made things a little less smooth. While their marketing has clearly drawn attention, I think there are other studios that provide a wider range of classes, more convenient locations, and a more seamless experience overall.

Affordable but Poorly Run: Like most other reviewers, you likely won’t have time to use up all the classes you bought — way too few slots for the number of members. Music is dull, instructors mostly lack energy. Mitra and Zul are solid; the rest need work. You get what you pay for.

Please think twice if u wna purchase a package from them. Classes are always full and i’m 15-18 in the waitlist. Its quite impossible to get booked into unless you are a student/freelance/unemployed that can go for classes in the afternoon. Unreasonable policies where ur package starts even before you get to book into a class successfully. Regret getting their 10 days trial for $99. Customer service also replies pretty slow and phone number is non-existent.
Dont run ads for ur campaigns when u dont have the capacity for it.

No issues with the instructors. However they have over subscribed and every class is booked full with lack of instructors. The owner is too greedy and put a time limit on packages so you won't get to use your classes before the expiration date

It was my first ever Pilates class today. The atmosphere was really nice and cozy. From what I felt, it’s not exactly classic Pilates but more of a mix of different styles. Still, I’d definitely recommend this place!

Reviews don’t do this establishment justice. Excellent full body class here that has the signature Absolute teaching style, passionate instructor and lots of encouragement and attention to each person, comprehensive demos, definitely worth a try even as a beginner with no prior experience. There were also available reformers, so hopefully other reviews on not enough spots have been addressed.

Great class, negative reviews are unnecessarily harsh
