Food Avenue at The Cathay brings hawker-style dining to the heart of Orchard Road with a contemporary food court showcasing Singapore's diverse culinary heritage. Operated by Yak Hong Group, this 4,000-square-foot space opened in March 2025 following The Cathay's two-year renovation, offering locals and tourists a curated selection of traditional favourites in air-conditioned comfort.
The food court houses nine themed stalls spanning the breadth of Singaporean cuisine. Diners can choose from economy mixed rice, Hainanese chicken rice, pork ribs noodles, Teochew porridge, and halal-certified nasi padang alongside Japanese-Korean offerings, Mala hotpot and wok hei-style mini wok delights. This variety ensures the food court caters to different dietary preferences and meal occasions, from quick lunches to leisurely dinners.
Approximately 200 seats accommodate the steady stream of shoppers, cinema-goers and office workers who pass through The Cathay daily. The basement location at B1-09/10/14, 2 Handy Road keeps the food court accessible yet separated from the retail and entertainment floors above. Many visitors time their meals around movie screenings at The Cathay Cineplex, making Food Avenue a natural pre- or post-cinema dining spot.
The food court concept balances affordability with quality, presenting hawker favourites in a mall setting that appeals to both value-conscious diners and those seeking authentic local flavours without venturing to traditional hawker centres. The Orchard Road address and direct connection to Dhoby Ghaut MRT make Food Avenue easily accessible for workers from nearby office towers and tourists staying in the area's numerous hotels.

Do not eat the beef noodles from the Teochew fish soup stall at the end. The person made my food very bland and tasteless. That make cook does not know how to cook soup. Kept adding water. Gross. Wasted $7.50.

I was intending to try out the kopi stall at Food Avenue Cathay Mall. The Kopi assistant is very bad at handling enquiry. He sounded rude and unhelpful. He may not be intentional as some people are just rude by nature but being rude in handling customer enquiry is totally unacceptable. Either train him to be better or put him to work in the back room. I decided to give my business to Yakun where the front line staff are more professional.

The drinks store playing some loud chinese edm club music, I thought it was some club or bar at first, quite insane

I had a great experience at Yak Hong's new Food Court - Food Avenue! Would recommend the teochew fish soup with purple sweet potato - pleasant surprise on the addition of purple sweet potato that complemented the freshness of the fish. I also tried the KL pan-fried noodles which had hints of wok hei. To top it off, their Nanyang Kopi and Teh O were fantastic—rich, aromatic, and brewed to perfection.
I’m already looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves good food and a good cup of Kopi!

Highly recommended to visit in the heart of Orchard! Go in between shopping spree!
Love the variety from a comforting bowl of seafood and meat noodle soup to a hearty meal of pork cutlet rice!
Healthier options like yong Tau foo and regional delights like KL style Hokkien mee.
Muslim friendly and halal cuisines available and we love the huge fresh fish and rice set!
Staffs are friendly and the environment is clean and comfortable. Breakfast and fresh fruits are available too! Cannot do without my coffee.

Came here to support Cathay’s new management, definitely a big investment to take over it.
Another reviewer shared Teochew fish soup with sweet potato is awesome. It is!
Many had mentioned their coffee is great. My wife is a coffee lover, she can attest to it!

I don’t usually write review but I think this food court deserve a shout out.
I just had one of the most amazing dinner.
The food here is of high quality.. the black pepper chicken cutlet rice, herbal chicken soup and chicken rice was good.
Not mentioning about their coffee.
Very good coffee and big cup too. Better than eating at other competitors coffee chain.
