The banh mi bread is perfectly toasted, and the vegetables are surprisingly tasty and crunchy. The vegetables are fresh too (i checked for wilting and there was none). The pork belly looks like red charsiew at first glance but it’s a little softer. But still not my type.
Tucked in the food court opposite Toast Box in Shaw.
Had the Viet BBQ pork with noodles and mayo salad. Both portions commensurate with the price. Taste good as well, live the crispy rice rolls too!
Mango salad is fresh and refreshing!
I'm sure it was just bad luck. We ordered 2 meals, one was spicy as hell and the other not spicy at all. The woman in charge was not specially happy either.
Quality Vietnamese food at budget-friendly prices!
Tucked away in a corner of Food Republic foodcourt at the basement of Shaw House, Little Hanoi is easily reachable, given its walkable distance, via an underpass, from Orchard MRT Station, office buildings and malls in the vicinity. Its menu has something delightful to ignite and satisfy every palate, any time of day.
Whenever we swing by FR foodcourt from time to time, be it with family or friends, we naturally gravitate towards and make a beeline for this Viet stall...#6 Bún Chả (Viet Style BBQ Pork with Rice Vermicelli), #1 Beef Pho and #9/#10 Fresh/Fried Spring Rolls are our must-order trio!
The Bún Chả at recent visit deserves 5*! This simple yet tantalizing dry noodle dish - served with fresh ingredients and grilled to perfection - always delivers a symphony of flavors! It comes sans broth, keeping the toppings intact and from becoming sodden. The smoky grilled, tender pork belly slices, crispy fried spring roll, and small pork patty, paired with delicate rice vermicelli, crunchy veggies and a hint of savoury-sweet-tangy-spicy from the soup, dipping sauce, herbs and chilli🌶, create a harmonious and mouthwatering dining experience. Good ambience past 2.30pm.
If you're in the locale and craving for authentic Vietamese food at affordable prices, check Little Hanoi out. Where possible, visit off-peak hours. Else, expect a line during lunch rush as working crowd from nearby offices and tourists flock here to savour their fave dishes.
I order the bbq pork vermicelli noodles!! And I’m in love, everything was the right amount, from the meat to the noodles to the veggies. The meat was well marinated and flavourful. The crew are passionate about what they do, and you can really taste it from the food. My Vietnamese mum loves it too!
Bbq pork with vermicelli was superb. Pork had a nice charred while deep fried spring roll was delicious. The amount of sliced pork was also decent. Pork meatball was kinda dry and I would love to have more herbs in the bowl. As the vermicelli came dry, you could either dip it with the soup or the sweet sauce. Overall price was on the more expensive side but it's pretty good.
My favourite stall at Food Republic Shaw House.
Numerous stalls come and go but there are those who weathered the changes that come with time. Little Hanoi is one of them.
Before my Japanese class, I would take my dinner at this food court. Eventually after trying every stall, Little Hanoi is where I gravitate to.
The BBQ Pork Rice/Vermicelli set is my favourite, where they grilled pork patties, pork belly and topping with a deep fried spring roll before serving with a bowl of tangy gravy and flavourful soup. Best eaten during rainy weather.
Non pork eaters can eat their grilled chicken noodles that comes with the same smokey taste.
Had Viet style BBQ pork rice vermicelli. Contains torched pork slices, black pepper-seasoned pork meatballs, 1 fried spring roll, veggies and it comes with a dipping sauce and msg soup.
There's only one stalk of basil and it's not as good as I imagined.
