I visited on the Black Friday weekend to get some coffee as gifts for 2 coffee lovers I know. The lady attending to my queries was so friendly and knowledgeable about the tasting notes of the different blends the store offered. As a non-coffee drinker, I was a bit lost on which blend to pick and how fine I should grind the beans. She gave detailed descriptions about each blend, shelf life and offered coffee samples to help me decide between the blends. From our interaction, I could tell she was very passionate about coffee! I am thankful for her recommendations and also heard rave reviews about the coffee from the 2 people who received the beans. Very positive and pleasant experience at this store, will be back for more :)

Wanted to check if there’s any coffee beans store beside Bacha when entered ION shopping center. Googled and saw Gumption coffee at Wheelock Place. Was greeted by counter girl and shared I’m into pour over coffees. She recommended for me to try tasting a light blend expresso to get an idea and to know about the brand. I was reluctant as I don’t drink expresso. She gently asked me to give a try and not drink all if I don’t like the taste. It was surprisingly not bitter and tastes mildly with fruity taste. She asked me to try the stronger coffee pods so that I can know the difference. Although I took 2 sips of the coffee taste full body and chocolatey. surprisingly to me not bitter at all. Bought 2 types of beans and one box of the stronger coffee pods. Xandra was friendly and patience to hear on what exactly I’m looking and didn’t push me get anything. She said just try and if I don’t like the taste it was ok.

Sydney coffee place in Singapore! (Gumption in Sydney CBD located in The Strand Arcade) Packaging here’s pretty fancy, and staff is really friendly! Loved the photos on the wall. Had a great time reminiscing about coffee in Sydney vs Melbourne. Coffee samples are available before buying, which is a really nice touch. Got my usual fav Hairy Chest, in Nespresso pods. Happy days!

I unfortunately didn’t have the same level of hospitality as the rest of the patrons. Maybe I caught the staff on a bad day. I had to ask for a sample espresso only after making purchase. She didn’t offer me when I was browsing around. She also seemed pretty reluctant to brew a cup for me, despite me being the only one there. She left me to my own devices; eg asking me to read the flavour profiles and not explaining the brews to me. I didn’t ask since I have a grinder at home, but she didn’t offer to grind the beans like many of the reviews here. I felt like a cash cow just to pay for a bag of beans for $20. While I don’t doubt the quality of the beans (the aroma was fragrant with many nuances), I felt the overall interaction was too cold for my liking. I probably wouldn’t purchase from Gumption Coffee anymore, because I think there are other sellers that would give me a better experience. For me, I love to talk to coffee enthusiasts. So for that, I’ll be skipping this place in the future. I am also not going to call anyone out, because I believe people do have bad days. I’m just unfortunate enough to experience this.

Leesee is very helpful and recommended a couple of blends. She even made us some samples to try. Great place to pick up gifts for coffee lovers. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Dropped in by chance on a Saturday afternoon after a laser session at one of the clinics on the upper floors. There was no crowd, pretty quiet. Service was great, the sales lady present gave me an introduction of the brand and the beans they carry. I was so excited the moment I heard they are an indie Aussie brand—because Aussie generally has great coffee. I love the packaging and also the free Nespresso pod tasting of their coffees, so I could pick which one I preferred to bring home. I got their signature Paracelsus Punch in the end. Not only are the beans priced reasonably, they are also really fresh! The bag I got was roasted only days before (they put the roast date on the pack). Highly recommend to all coffee lovers who want to try something good and different. 👍🏼☕️

Had a pleasant and lovely experience with Janet, who kindly took me through the different Blend offerings in Gumption. I came here with the idea that it was a cafe I could sit in, but it’s more of a place to get your coffee beans in either Bean form or in convenient Nespresso possible. Janet did a wonderful job, and I ended up going home with a couple of pods and beans. Good job Janet!

We had Gumption Latte in Sydney and the taste was just so memorable. I am so delightful to find Gumption in Singapore. Visited the shop this afternoon and Leesee was helpful in recommending coffee bean. She is friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to try the PP bean that she recommended. Thank you for making my shopping experience so much fun.

Randomly pass by the store and decided to walk in as I was attracted to the coffee aroma! (Thumbs up if this is one of their marketing tactics😆) But it didn’t disappoint. It was a pleasant experience in store attended by the staff on a weekend. Idk her name but she was very passionate in explaining the coffee notes and brand history. They also offer FREE coffee tasting too! (They offer it themselves and I didn’t even had to ask 😂) Great shopping experience. Definitely recommend coffee lovers to check this store out if happen to be nearby. Edited (30 Jun): I realise 2 of the coffees I bought has short expiry, I bought them in June, but the expiry is in Aug and Nov - same year 2024. I didn’t checked upon purchase since the staff just took it for me, but I wouldn’t blame her since I could have checked too. Only thought to check it when I feel the coffee tasted very different and off from what I’ve tasted in store. Not much aroma. Quite disappointing, don’t think I would purchase again lol.

Women at the counter is a moody beach. 0 customer service , frowning as though customers owe her a living.
