Atmosphere: very quiet as we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Service: superb. the staff were friendly and warm. came to chit chat with us a bit. very attentive and keep refilling our green tea. Food: we ordered tempura udon, sushi, sashimi and big mac. big mac was a huge hit. The uni portion was generous. tempura and sushi set were not bad. Sashimi was very fresh but very overpriced imo ($78 for 9 pieces).

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Kakushin, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we stepped in, the ambience was elegant yet intimate. The service was outstanding : warm, attentive, and thoughtful. The staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and even acknowledged our anniversary, which added a lovely personal touch. As for the food, they were absolutely exquisite. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Japanese flavors. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors well-balanced, and the omakase selection was a true culinary journey. The attention to detail in every course showed the chef’s dedication and artistry. We left with full hearts and even fuller stomachs, already planning our next visit. Kakushin made our milestone celebration unforgettable, and we highly recommend it for anyone looking to mark a special moment or simply enjoy outstanding Japanese cuisine.

The salted egg chicken karaage was good-- huge portion, juicy chicken, not too oily or salty. I came for the orh nee toast, which I found good, not great. Would have liked a more tasty orh nee. This was one was too mild. Skip the orh nee teh. It didn't really gel well, literally. It's a blob of yam sitting in the bottom of the cup.

Came by and tried their drinks. Got the hot signature white coffee and iced yuan yang. Honestly the white coffee is pretty nice! Would totally order again. The iced yuan yang not so great. Just get the iced white coffee. Oh plus point is that their cups are pretty big! So altho its 3.50 a cup for coffee the size makes up for it

Suu Kee at Scotts Square: A Sweet Fusion Breakfast Indulgence My recent breakfast meeting at Suu Kee in Scotts Square was a delightful departure from the usual morning rush. Nestled within the elegant ambiance of the mall, Suu Kee offers a tranquil setting for a productive and pleasurable start to the day. We opted for two distinct sets to sample their offerings: the Matcha Red Bean toast bread set and the signature Yam and Salted Egg Yolk toast bread set. Let's begin with the Matcha Red Bean. The sweet and delicate tea notes of the matcha paired exquisitely with the earthy red bean paste. It was a harmonious blend of flavours and textures. The toasted bread itself was light and served as a perfect vessel for the delightful filling. The signature Yam and Salted Egg Yolk set lived up to its positive reviews. The savoury, slightly sweet yam melded seamlessly with the rich, umami-laden salted egg yolk. It was a comforting and sophisticated combination, a subtle nod to traditional flavours with a modern twist. The texture was smooth and creamy, making each bite a moment of pure indulgence. Accompanying these delectable sets was a cup of Kopi O Kosong to wash down the sweet treats. Suu Kee's rendition was robust, aromatic, and perfectly brewed. It was the ideal complement to the sweet and savory sets, cutting through the richness and providing a much-needed caffeine boost.

A dead Mall which never seem to be able to establish a good tenant mix. Came only because it's quieter and easier to get seats for lunch. First time at SuuKee since it's relocation to the basement and suprise they serve lunch menu now. Curry and toast were good. Coffee and Tea were thin despite me selecting the Gao option. Right Infront of the supermarket.

👍🏻😋Signature Iced Orh Nee Kopi This is so good! I chose gao option (+$0.20) 👍🏻OG Orh Nee Toast (add crushed peanuts) Must order at @suukeecoffeesg ! 👍🏻😋SG60 Orh Nee Redbean Toast This is soooo enjoyable! Definitely must order!!! Hope they keep it in the menu permanently! 😋Sambal Carbonara Chee Cheong Fun Set Umami and slightly spicy, got kick! Very smooth texture with the eggy goodness mixed in. 🍴Curry Chicken Kolo Mee Set Option to add on Spam cubes and chicken kaarage. The noodles was a bit too soggy for me (but I personally prefer hard noodles).

If you love local flavours with a creative twist, this place truly delivers. The standout for me was the Orh Nee Brûlée Toast. The yam filling was incredibly smooth, fragrant and rich — the kind of Orh Nee that instantly makes you smile. The brûlée top added the perfect caramelised crunch. I ordered Orh Nee Chicken Floss filling, but personally, the Orh Nee flavour is so strong (in a good way!) that I felt the floss got a little lost. I’d recommend going full-on yam and definitely adding the brûlée layer. The Pesto Pasta with Mushroom was a hearty, comforting vegetarian option with well-balanced flavours, and the Hazelnut Toast tasted like warm, chocolatey comfort. I also tried the Mint Milo Kopi, which surprised me — minty, nostalgic, and refreshing all at once. Outside the festive menu, the Sambal Carbonara Chee Cheong Fun is a must-order if you enjoy bold, fusion flavours. The Matcha Red Bean Toast is consistently good, and the Orh Nee Kopi adds a fun local spin to your usual coffee order.

I have always wanted to try their yam toast after seeing all the online recommendations and it didn’t disappoint. My family loved their yam toast, especially the original one. We loved their yam coffee too! The overall price is slightly more expensive than regular Yakun or Toast Box but it is still a great experience. The only concern we have is their limited seats available so come during non-peak period. We will definitely come back again.
