Alchemist operates at The Heeren as a retail establishment, with the name evoking transformation and specialized expertise suggesting possible focus on beauty products, fragrances, cocktails, or creative retail concepts. The Heeren has positioned itself as a youth-oriented shopping destination with tenant mix emphasizing fashion, lifestyle brands, and concepts appealing to younger demographics, distinguishing itself from more conservative Orchard Road malls targeting broader age ranges.
Retail success at properties like The Heeren requires understanding the target demographic's preferences and shopping behaviors, maintaining fresh and relevant product selections, creating shopping environments and experiences resonating with younger consumers, and adapting to rapidly evolving trends in fashion and lifestyle categories. The Heeren's positioning attracts tenants offering contemporary aesthetics and accessible price points rather than pure luxury or conservative mainstream retail.
Alchemist operates during The Heeren's standard retail hours, serving the mall's visitor base combining local youth, tourists, and shoppers drawn by the property's specific tenant mix and positioning. The establishment contributes to the mall's overall ecosystem and the variety of options available to visitors seeking alternatives to conventional retail experiences.
My spouse and I were just walking by when we got a craving for coffee. I'll be honest with you, there's nothing but coffee here. The assortment of appetizers and desserts is very sad. There are no chairs or tables to sit and talk with friends either. The place is located at the crossroads, has no walls and air conditioning, because of which it is very noisy and smells of exhaust fumes. So we took coffee, something from pastries and went home. I do not recommend visiting this place.
P.S.How do you feel about waiting 30 minutes for your takeaway coffee?😡

As always, i will try to do my review as fair as i could.
FOOD/DRINKS (4/5)
I love on how they provide us with a plenty of beans selection, if you are a pour over lover. I ordered pour over manual brew on my visit. Unfortunately, they serve the coffee with a paper cup, which ruined the taste of the coffee itself. It would've been better if they also serve it with a ceramic cup for a dine-in guests. Other than coffee, they only serve you with pastries and no main course. But the pastries are really good in my opinion
SERVICE (4/5)
The staffs are doing their job really good, with no hassle. They really know on how to brew their coffee beans. But again, it would've been better if they can serve it with ceramic cup for a dine-in guests
ATMOSPHERE (4/5)
Since it is located really close to a busy orchard road, so it is a little bit noisy, but still in a moderate level where you can still talk comfortably. Seatings are also plenty, but sadly there's no seating that can support your back/lumbar.

Afternoon wander in search of my final cuppa of the day and behold, I struck caffeine gold! Stumbled into this tiny café with minimalist vibes so cool I almost felt underdressed. It was crowded but still a blissfully enjoyable. Staff are friendly and professional. For professional baristas and great coffee you can go past Alchemist. The pastries too are awesome! Well done now my fave place for coffee in SG!

10/10 one of the best coffee in Orchard area. I also love the easygoing Japanese garden vibe that allows for that balmy breeze to flow. It’s the perfect spot for quick respite after your shopping, and need a quiet space for caffeine boost.
I am loving the Dark Matter in house roast, very balanced, chocolatey flavor and aroma. It’s quite subtle, and soft and I had it as black coffee. My friend had the piccolo (and she enjoyed it though I think the roast could easily get lost with all the milk).
10/10 coffee
10/10 vibe, aesthetic
10/10 service (at 9am, could be dicey at peak maybe)
Will come back. Glad to find a good cup in Orchard givens there’s only a few of them (more chains than speciality coffee this side of town).

Loved the place, it has a nice ambiance and makes a great spot for catching up with friends. The pastries were delicious, and my iced Americano had a subtle sour note that added a bit of character. Overall, a wonderful cafe good coffee and pastries

Very cool, Instagramy coffee shop. The menu is simple, but has very good coffee. There is seating in the open air restaurant, mostly benches and stools with little tables. Only complaint, wasn't very busy and coffee took a long time...but not terrible. I would definitely go back.
