Takashimaya Shopping Centre at Ngee Ann City stands as one of Orchard Road's premier luxury shopping destinations, housing over 130 specialty stores across its expansive retail floors. This Japanese department store giant brought its renowned retail philosophy to Singapore in 1993, creating a shopping haven that seamlessly blends Eastern and Western luxury brands under one prestigious roof.
Located at 391A Orchard Road, the shopping centre spans multiple levels from Basement 2 to Level 4, offering a carefully curated mix of international fashion houses, beauty brands, lifestyle boutiques, and gourmet food options. The sophisticated Japanese approach to retail is evident throughout – immaculate presentation, exceptional service standards, and a thoughtfully arranged tenant mix that caters to discerning shoppers.
What makes Takashimaya particularly special is its balance between established luxury houses and unique Japanese imports. Shoppers can find everything from iconic European brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior to distinctive Japanese labels that are difficult to find elsewhere in Singapore. The food basement is legendary, offering an array of Japanese and international gourmet products that make it a destination for food enthusiasts.
The shopping centre operates daily from 10am to 9:30pm, providing ample time for leisurely browsing. Its location within the larger Ngee Ann City complex means visitors can easily explore connected retail spaces while enjoying the convenience of underground parking and direct access to Orchard MRT station. For tourists and locals alike, Takashimaya Shopping Centre represents the refined end of the Orchard Road shopping experience.
A great place for shopping, dining, or simply strolling around to enjoy the atmosphere. It’s perfect whether you’re looking to buy things, do some window shopping, or sit down for dinner and dessert. The food stalls, snacks, sweets, and confectionery layout at B2 feel very much like those in Japan, which makes it a fun experience to explore. What I really like is how the middle area of B2, right in front of the fountain, changes with different festivals. Each season or celebration brings in new stalls and a fresh vibe, making every visit a little different. It’s lively, convenient, and enjoyable for both casual outings and food lovers.

Takashimaya Singapore remains an Orchard Road icon — a grand blend of Japanese refinement and Singaporean luxury under one roof. From the moment you step into Ngee Ann City, you’re surrounded by elegant boutiques, gourmet food stalls, and the unmistakable buzz of serious shoppers. The basement food hall is a must — think delicate Japanese confectionery, beautifully packed bentos, and cafés perfect for mid-day indulgence. Whether you’re hunting for designer labels, fine watches, or everyday essentials, everything feels curated and polished, wrapped in the calm efficiency of old-school retail charm.
That said, Takashimaya isn’t chasing trends — it’s timeless, not flashy. Some corners feel a bit dated compared to newer malls, and service quality can be hit-or-miss depending on the day. But that’s part of its character — this isn’t just another glossy shopping complex; it’s a Singapore classic where generations still meet for lunch, shop, and linger over matcha cakes. Go for the experience, stay for the elegance, and let nostalgia meet modern indulgence.

I so ❤️ this shopping mall, it is my number one shopping mall spot in Singapore. Quality products, I think price is fair but towards the high side. I love that it is not so crowded and the people shopping here is much more polite, well-dressed, talk decent not too loud. The accessories here are very quality and can earn twice points using AMEX card, which is better than $15 membership for 3 years. To your own preference, this place is very nice to buy quality present for friends and clients.

Takashimaya is truly a one-stop shopping destination with almost everything under the sun from luxury brands and lifestyle items to food and daily essentials.
The mall is spacious, vibrant, and always bustling with energy, making it a great place for both shopping and dining. One area for improvement would be the toilets; adding bidets and ensuring they smell fresher would really elevate the experience, especially since it’s right in the heart of Orchard.
Can employ more staff for traffic controls especially when the ride hirer drivers are dropping and picking ip passengers area always congested as the entrance and exit to the carpark is also nearby. Manage the traffic flow better
