I was a patient at SL Clinic Wheelock for several years. However, after a period of loyalty, I’ve come to feel that I’d have benefited from exploring other clinics much earlier. During my last Botox session at the clinic, I experienced soreness and swelling for nearly three weeks. When I raised this with the clinic, the doctor mentioned to me that a facial muscle may have been affected and explained that this can occasionally happen. While I accepted the explanation at the time, I now wish I had considered seeking second opinions. I also purchased a laser package (3 sessions) for minor acne scars on my back. After completing two sessions, I personally did not notice much improvement. I saw much more visible results after trying another facial spa nearby. The most disappointing experience was with my final session in that same laser package. Prior to my appointment, I had sent photos of my new pigmentation via WhatsApp and even visited the clinic to confirm that the pigmentation would be treated with my final laser session. In short, I had confirmed with the clinic multiple times that my laser package would cover it, they said yes. However on the day of treatment, after 45 minutes of numbing, I was suddenly informed that the treatment would incur additional charges due to pigmentation being on my arms as well. I asked to proceed only with the back, as previously discussed that was the worse area and my primary focus, but was told I would still need to top up. Wanting to complete the session, I reluctantly agreed and ended up paying a total of $700 (including the original package). I was informed this session would likely show no visible results, and that a much larger package of $5,000 to $7,000 (7-10 sessions of laser) would be necessary to see any improvements. Since then, I’ve switched to another reputable clinic in Orchard. After just two laser sessions, I’ve personally seen significant improvement (95% gone) in my pigmentation, at literally a fraction of the cost SL had quoted me. I’ve also had Botox done at the new clinic and have not once experienced any of the previous discomfort. Most importantly, I now have a doctor who prioritizes patient comfort and trust. I do want to acknowledge that SL Clinic did reach out to offer a complimentary session in response to my feedback. BUT only with the same doctor. I declined it as I no longer feel safe or comfortable returning. I feel that this alone reflects how little trust I have for the clinic. I have never left a negative review, but felt this was important to share, especially when it comes to treatments that directly affect your skin and body. I hope this provides helpful insight to others who are researching aesthetic clinics.
