Sergeant Hainanese Chicken Rice (三巡海南鸡饭) brings Singapore's national dish to the heart of Shaw House's Food Republic food court. This local chain has built a solid reputation for serving authentic Hainanese chicken rice that keeps Orchard Road shoppers and office workers coming back for more.
The stall offers the classic trifecta of chicken rice options: steamed white chicken for traditionalists, roasted chicken for those who prefer that crispy skin and caramelized flavour, and variations like chicken chop and honey glazed chicken for something different. Each portion comes with fragrant rice cooked in chicken broth, the essential chilli sauce that packs a proper kick, and bowl of comforting soup.
What makes Sergeant worth seeking out is the consistency and quality. The rice, which can make or break a chicken rice experience, is properly oily and aromatic—the hallmark of a stall that knows what it's doing. The chicken is tender and juicy, particularly the steamed version which showcases the skill of the kitchen. The chilli sauce strikes that authentic Singaporean balance between spicy, tangy, and savoury notes.
Located in the busy Food Republic at Shaw House, Sergeant Hainanese Chicken Rice offers that essential local dining experience that visitors to Singapore shouldn't miss. It's the kind of satisfying, comforting meal that reminds you why humble chicken rice remains one of Singapore's most beloved dishes.

The chicken rice was ok ok la. I've tasted better at other places. 1 thing that i didn't like my first time here was the shop owner was rude. Please talk politely to your customers.

S$12, only a little bit chicken, and all are chicken chest only. Quality and quantity is terrible, highly not recommended.

Seller and helper at Shaw centre are very rude. I bought 4 packets of chicken rice. I had to put black sauce on these 4 packets and told them to help me to close and pack the boxes. Instead, the helper told me off and didnt help me to close up all the boxes. The seller also don't bother and just continue to serve the 2nd customer.
I had tried many chicken rice stalls and the sellers are very friendly and helpful.

Over price for the below average taste of chicken rice. You can easily find the other cheaper chicken rice but taste way better than this. The staff is rude . Not recommended.

I come to Scott food court. Spend $6.50 buy mid size chicken rice. Less than 8 spoon eat finish.

Tried the large sized steamed chicken rice at this outlet. Quite sumptuous with their large chicken meat serving. Service is also decent with notice given for Shopback Pay restrictions on set meals.

Above average chicken rice. Got half a chicken and some chicken gizzard, liver, as well as two rice. The bill came up to $26.60 which was acceptable for an Orchard Road hawker stall.
Also, this is one of the better stalls in this Food Republic food court which strangely doesn't have very good hawker stalls.

Delicious chicken rice in this food court setting

One of the favourite , the better choice, nice chicken rice . The chicken is nice, the rice is well cooked. The chilli is also good to enjoy together, which is important.
Medium is always good choice with extra chicken

Chicken rice portion is slightly smaller than usual but I'm OK with it. They have numerous branches at other food courts so the taste is pretty much standardised as how a chicken rice should taste like.
