Orchard Bak Chor Mee has emerged as a late-night culinary phenomenon since opening at Orchard Plaza in early 2025, operating from 7pm until 5:30am daily. Located at #04-17, 150 Orchard Road, this cosy 12-seater eatery fills a crucial gap for night owls, party-goers, and shift workers craving authentic hawker fare during unconventional hours.
The stall is helmed by a seasoned hawker whose face may be familiar to those who frequented BK Eating House along South Bridge Road. His signature Mee Sua preparation has garnered a devoted following, now accessible in the heart of Orchard shopping district. Within just two months of operation, the eatery achieved an impressive 4.7-star rating on Google Reviews, testament to its quality and service.
The crowd favourite Signature Bak Chor Mee ($7.90) allows diners to choose between Mee Sua, Mee Pok, or Mee Kia noodles. The dry version features thin, springy noodles tossed in a vinegary sauce with a distinctive tart kick, accompanied by minced pork, crispy pork lard, and fresh lettuce. The accompanying soup bowl arrives piping hot, generously filled with fishballs, pork slices, tender liver, and fishcakes in fragrant pork broth.
Queue times peak between 1am and 4am, when the limited counter seating fills quickly. The intimate setting creates a communal atmosphere reminiscent of traditional hawker culture, where strangers share tables and bond over steaming bowls of comfort food. Local chefs have already recognised Orchard Bak Chor Mee among Singapore's best BCM spots, particularly praising its late-night availability.
Dining Experience: The sitting format here is unique—it’s styled like a ramen shop, with a counter-seat setup that’s quite fresh for a local Bak Chor Mee stall. It adds a fun, modern twist to the usual hawker experience.
Service: The servers were extremely polite and welcoming, always smiling and efficient. Despite the crowd, waiting time was reasonable, and once seated, food arrived quickly after ordering. Great job on service!
Food:
- Broth & Ingredients: The broth was rich and flavorful, and the liver was fresh and perfectly cooked—no rubbery texture here.
- Mee Sua with Vinegar: As someone who isn’t a big vinegar fan, I found the vinegar in the mee sua a bit overpowering. If you love tangy flavors, you’ll enjoy it, but if not, you might want to ask for less vinegar.
Verdict: A refreshing take on a local favorite with excellent service and quality ingredients. The ramen-style seating makes it stand out, and the food is well-prepared—just be mindful of the vinegar if you’re not into strong sour notes.

It's quite a fascinating story that the uncle who used to run the stall at Clarke Quay's BK Eating House now helms this outlet with a young team (as detailed in the 8days online article). Given the small size of the space, I appreciate that they offer GrabFood delivery, allowing us to enjoy their food from the comfort of our own home.
The mee pok bak chor mee is perfectly al dente, with a robust chili sauce and a well-balanced umami flavor. The soup and ingredients together make the entire bowl exceptionally enjoyable. If I'm ever out for drinks, I'll definitely swing by in person for a bowl of these noodles!

Sgd7.9 for signature bak chor mee, can choose mee pok, mee kia, or mee sua. First impression - noodles look anemic and under seasoned. But the sauce is all underneath, must do a major toss and mix well. Sauce is balanced, less spicy still has some kick. Pork lard is crispy, noodles is al dente, lots of minced pork. Comes with large bowl of soup with 1 fish dumpling, 2 fish balls, 2 meatballs, and quite a few slices of tender pork cooked just right. We asked for no liver but a small piece of liver got in, and it tasted so good - no weird smell, super silky and not chalky at all. We might just take the liver next time, will also try the mee sua that many patrons were trying. Ambience felt like a hole in the wall ramen place, couple of houseflies were flying around and eventually got zapped. Service very prompt and polite. We will definitely be back.

A hole in the wall that opens only at 8pm for late dinner and supper. I was initially skeptical as the pictures in the Google reviews I saw didn't look very good, looking pale and lifeless. Ordered the signature bak chor mee ($7.90) with mee pok, and when it came, it didn't look very good either, quite plain looking. However, once mixed, we discovered the sauce is all underneath, so you need to mix to coat the noodles. The other liao are all in the soup - Fishball, her kiao, meatballs, pork slices, liver (1 tiny stray one despite us saying no liver). Taste wise, or was excellent - way better than it initially looked. The chilli also packs a punch. The soup was also sweet. The fish balls, meatballs and pork were all succulent. Service was good. Despite ordering just 1 bowl to share, we were served professionally. Ambience felt like a ramen bar.

A pleasant experience. Visited on a Friday night at around 9.45pm. There wasn’t yet a queue formed but had to wait for about 10mins for a seat. Staff were friendly, and served really quickly. Noodles tasted normal but the broth was lovely generous料 (ingredients). Chilli in the noodles was quite unique though. Queue start to form after 10pm. I would say it’s a lovely affordable place for a late dinner. Hassle-free, affordable meal in the city centre that is so local and delightful.
