I am a first time customer at the salon. I was near the area and was in need of a trim. The environment was pleasant and I was tended to quite quickly. Tea was served and staff were pleasant and welcoming. There was no hard selling at all. Keith was all ears about the cut I wanted. From what I can tell he is an extremely experienced and attentive stylist who cared about what his customers wanted - he accounted for my hair type, head shape and was precise about the angle of each cut so that my hair fell in the right places. I was delighted with my haircut! Given the pleasant experience, I shared that I had always wanted to go lighter since I've always had black hair. He recommended a light rose gold colour and showed me a swatch, as he felt that it was smth that I could pull off. The cost was negotiated to be around $400+ in total (cut+colour). I agreed to the colour and the price. After the bleaching session, I noticed my roots were still black and the base colour was extremely orange. It was then he revealed that he doesn't bleach roots, to protect my scalp. I did not know what to think then, since it's my first time bleaching after all, I simply wanted to trust the process and have faith. However, after the entire dying process was done, my hair colour was closer to a vibrant ginger colour which is far from the rose gold swatch which we agreed upon and my roots were clearly visible. When I reached the counter, I was then charged $578, and was told by the staff I must have misheard the pricing. I did not dispute, so I paid and left, feeling ambivalent about the whole experience. If it was simply a hair cut, I would definitely give a 5/5 rating for sure, I really love his work. But I did feel that the hair colour was overpromised and under-delivered. Coupled with the issue of price change towards the end, I am not sure if I would return :( I guess we all slip sometimes, and I am one of the exceptional cases who wasn't pleased with the overall results. Even though I may not return, I would not discourage others from going because I believe Keith is a great person and stylist.
