This restaurant truly meets the standards of fine dining. The menu offers a diverse selection, with each dish delivering on taste, presentation, and creativity. The service and ambiance were equally impressive, fully living up to our expectations. The attentive waitstaff ensured that our tea cups and teapot were never empty. As it was my wife's birthday, we brought a cake to celebrate. The restaurant went the extra mile by presenting the cake on a beautiful plate (see picture) and even surprised us with complimentary longevity buns.

This could possibly be my favorite Chinese restaurant in Orchard! This was the second time I dined there and enjoyed their food as much I recalled I did the first time. Can’t recalled what I ate probably a year back but remembered enjoyed most of the dishes, except for Shengjian Bao (a dish I associate the most with Shanghai. So this was ironic). This time we had their 水煮鱼 and they used a different type of fish compare to the usual (sorry can’t remember which it was though) and is much tastier but full of bones! So eat very carefully. The lamb was fragrant too. Even their veggies were also nice too! Enjoyed their Shanghai green with minced garlic & mushrooms. Served complimentary watermelon at end of meal. The restaurant environs is pleasant and much like Mandarin Gallery, where it’s located in, less hectic compared to the busier malls in Orchard. Will definitely return to try all their other dishes on the menu. Gonna be my top choice of Chinese restaurant whenever I’m in Orchard Road! Lunches in January 2025

I have been having good here for more than 5 years. Very authentic Shanghai food. Just unfortunately, the price has gone up quite a lot in the past few years like many other things in Singapore. Recommended dish 熏鱼 蟹粉豆腐 黄鱼汤

Heard a lot about this place and was happy that we finally had our company lunch here one afternoon... Service not bad, all staff are polite & professional. Food wise, they serve food cooked in unique styles. Taste wise not bad but not as good as what we expect so a bit disappointed… Probably a personal choice.

Finally got the chance to savour their dishes as raves by my friend who has been a couple of times and she shared previously their menu prices were cheaper and this round we went, the prices has increased quite a lot; but to be fair of the increasing inflation for food cost, rental etc; we though our total bill for around $150 for 4 pax were quite decent in view of the restaurant located Mandarin gallery. We were very impressed with all the dishes we ordered, all tasted flavorful except the scallion noodles, I found the noodles a tad hard and a little on the salty side and the chives were stirred fried too long with the noodles hence it’s dry and hard to chew. The star dish, I must say is their old Shanghai smoked fish - 上海熏鱼。 Overall, their serving portion ( 1 size ) is generous if for 2-3 pax. There were 4 of us and small-eaters so our total dishes, we ordered 4 items fed us well. Service wise, all service staff were nice & attentive. They keep refilling our tea pot and change our plates. Just only during ordering of the food, we were served by a young boy who took our orders was quite blunt and unhappy to say that our orders may not be enough for us - and we told him it should be fine for us and indeed it was. Atmosphere of the dining was quite open, don’t really feel like in a posh dining restaurant, feels a level higher from dining at a more atas zichar restaurant. Overall experience was pleasant and enjoyable. Definitely will be a repeat and return customer. One reputable nice place for friends, family gatherings and if you plan to host, bill still will not burn your pockets budget.

Took my mum here for lunch. The food was nice and suitable for old people, very tasty. The price may seem on the higher end but it commensurate with the taste, the ambience and the amount of food. Even though we order one appetiser, one veg dish, one meat dish and one rice, the amount was too much for two women. We have to bring the rice home. Nice experience and we would like to come back again.

Food is acceptable. Something where very few restaurants served would be the 八宝饭 which needs time to prepare. Service was something I was perturbed with considering it’s was supposed to be an upscale restaurant in Orchard and I would have expected more as the bill was rather pricey. Atmosphere was ok.

We take a taxi on both ride to this restaurant, but the taste is so disappointing to us. It absolutely not Shanghainese’s taste. Too much oil, cold dishes are hot, pork belly is even without skin, the waitress said it is because the pork imports from Spain, but why cannot import from other country. All of above, the price is shocking, but the tastes and the services are absolutely not typical and professional.

Located at 4F of mandrian gallery on orchard road, very nice fine changhai cuisine, which we do taste like Taiwanese dishes we can have in Taiwan. Staff is very friendly and responding to our needs, corkage is 30/bottle as they do have nice glasses and decanter for each bottle Overall is a nice experience

Portions are huge but the bak choy with beancurd skin is not only misleading, it doesn't taste good as well. Firstly, it has a very off putting taste which lead to the second point being that the main culprit are the pork slices in there! This was not mentioned in the menu at all! Service was very slow due to shortage of staff and it was very hard to get their attention. The worst mistake is actually the lack of update & info. We ordered the lamb only to be told 20 mibs later that they had ran out of stock & had to prepare a fresh batch for us. We were told it will take only 20 mins. Instead the whole stupid dish took 1 question & an hour for the dish to come out which by then it was close to closing time for the restaurant! We ate a few pieces & threw away the rest of the dish! What a waste of our precious time!
