Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Paragon brings Singapore's most iconic breakfast destination to the heart of Orchard Road, serving the traditional kaya toast that has defined Singaporean mornings for generations. As part of a chain that has become synonymous with local breakfast culture, this Paragon outlet maintains the standards that have made Ya Kun a household name since 1944.
The restaurant's signature offering remains the classic kaya toast—charcoal-grilled bread slathered with butter and house-made kaya, a fragrant coconut and egg jam flavored with pandan leaves. This simple yet perfect combination arrives alongside soft-boiled eggs seasoned with soy sauce and white pepper, accompanied by hot coffee or tea seasoned with condensed milk. This ritual breakfast has fueled generations of Singaporeans through their daily routines.
Beyond the traditional set menus, Ya Kun has evolved to offer contemporary variations including French toast with kaya, chicken toastwiches with creative fillings like cranberry rosemary, and mee siam or laksa for those seeking more substantial breakfast options. The menu also features kaya butter crackers and beverages that cater to different preferences while maintaining the brand's core identity.
The Paragon location provides an upscale setting for this beloved casual dining concept, allowing shoppers and office workers along Orchard Road to enjoy authentic Singaporean breakfast in a comfortable environment. Operating hours accommodate the breakfast crowd with early opening times, while extended hours throughout the day support all-day dining preferences.
Ya Kun's expansion from a humble coffee stall in the 1940s to a chain with multiple outlets across Singapore and international presence reflects the enduring appeal of its simple, honest fare executed with consistency and care. The brand's slogan "The toast that binds" captures how kaya toast has become a shared cultural touchstone that transcends generations, backgrounds, and social boundaries in Singapore's multicultural society.
There is a waiter in this shop with a bun-like hairstyle. Her service attitude is terrible, she has no service spirit at all, and she
speaks in an impatient tone. If you don't want to work, I think there's a dishwashing job in the back office that's suitable for you.

I wanted to try a traditional Singaporean dish, and Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Paragon did not disappoint! The kaya toast was simple yet incredibly satisfying - the perfect balance of crispy toast and creamy butter. Paired with soft-boiled eggs and an iced kopi, it was simply yet satisfying for me. The quick service and efficiency made the wait worthwhile, and now I understand why there were queues! A must-try for anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Singaporean breakfast. Highly recommended if you’re ever in Paragon.

Was there last week for a breakfast set. The breakfast set was fine although the butter was too much. The service was below average. Staff was rude in taking orders. The space was terribly small and super cramped. Elbows almost touching each other. Will never return unless the space for eating increases. Not recommended to come here based on poor service and atmosphere.
Cane here for the 2nd time after a long time. Space is still very limited but it is not as crowded as before. Guess fewer people are coming here for lunch.
Came here 3rd time today for lunch. Place seems to have been renovated. The available space is still the same but seems to ve better organised and have more seats with back rest. I was comfortable eating here today. Service has also improved. At least staff were not rude.

Fast service kind staff!
They do have a small seating area but it’s annoying when people take a seat before ordering. I think everyone would be able to sit if they let the people with food to sit first.

I love Yakun for their quality and service. If you notice amongst its peers - they are the only one who break the eggs for you, and you can return them if your yolk is not perfect.

big shoutout to the service crew they were very efficient, even during the busy rush. Special mention to the coffee lady who was working so hard to get every order out perfectly – really appreciate her dedication!
