Uncle Chieng operates a traditional wafer ice cream stall at 391 Orchard Road outside Takashimaya (Ngee Ann City), maintaining the same location since permanently stationing there in the 1990s. Operating daily 1pm-10pm (setup begins around 12:30pm, contact: 8881 3133), Uncle Chieng represents 55 years of ice cream vending heritage dating to Singapore's 1960s-70s-80s childhood experiences.
The stall serves traditional ice cream flavors including durian, red bean, and coconut, served between crisp colored wafers or soft rainbow bread according to customer preference. Uncle Chieng has achieved iconic status as probably Singapore's most recognized ice cream vendor, serving generations of customers at the same Takashimaya location for over 30 years.
The nostalgic treat attracts both older Singaporeans seeking childhood memories and younger customers discovering traditional street food culture. Prices remain accessible compared to modern artisanal ice cream shops, maintaining the affordable treat tradition that made ice cream uncles beloved figures in Singapore's food culture. The permanent location provides reliable access compared to mobile vendors, making Uncle Chieng a consistent presence outside one of Orchard Road's major shopping centers.
I was expecting more. It feels and also looks like a bought icecream from supermarket. When I saw the package like from supermarket slicing it with knife and putting into sandwich I knew that It would not be the best experience. Mango was almost tastefull. I ate much better icecreams. But in the heat it can be good option to cool yourself.

Right in front of the Ngee Ann City, Orchard.
This uncle🧓 sell the "OLD SCHOOL" ice-cream in a traditional trishaw. It has a very traditional ice-cream taste😋, and you eat it the traditional "OLD SCHOOL" way. Remind me of the childhood days🥰. …

First time in Singapore in a long time and got lucky that we bumped into this stall after walking in Takashimaya and went on a whim for the wafer ice creams. Best ice cream in SG by far and the uncle and aunty are friendly 🥰 will come back again soon …

Various flavors of ice cream combined with bread or biscuits. One of the cheapest dessert in Singapore. Tastes really good so it's quite crowded with locals and tourists, yep it's very popular. Worth to try. Currently the price has increased to $1.5 from $1.2
