The hire katsu set, rosu katsu set and chicken katsu curry set were very good. The panko batter was light and crispy and the pork was very tender, well fried to perfection. Of course, we took full advantage of the free-flow shredded cabbage salad, accompanied by delicious sesame-based dressing. I think we used more than half a bottle of the dressing among the three of us. The cabbage was fresh and cut super thinly. The curry sauce is nicely done as well, and it’s got a noticeable kick of spiciness in it too. The miso soup was okay but you can tell it was the instant type though. The service was quick and very friendly. Should have ordered the hot tea because it’s refillable. Overall, it’s a good tonkatsu restaurant.

Service was fast and the food arrived piping hot. Started with Chawamushi and potato salad. Great recommendation for the Shirobuta Rosu katsu from Japan paired well with the fried oyster and prawn. Ending it with the flavored hot ocha makes the meal complete. 🤤✌🏻 Service staff Kelvin was very polite and friendly who makes us come back again. He deserves a 5 star rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The soup was fresh and tasty unfortunately our fish was not fully cooked. But chef quickly replaced a new set for us. Appreciate. Katsu were crispy and juicy. Chef will refill the cabbage salad if necessary.

The food here is awesome! I like that there’s sharing options available, so you get to try a variety of meat. The price for the sharing platter is also quite reasonable in my opinion. I mean, you can top up the cabbage salad and rice as much as you want, so I think it’s quite worth since you’ll definitely be full from this meal. The matcha milk drink is really smooth and creamy! Would recommend!

It has been passed 25 years since I first time came across this Japanese Katsu restaurant Tonkichi. Most of time they never let me down on their foods and services. When it comes to Katsu, Donkichi is always serious. No doubt to thumb up.

Whenever visiting SG, this is one of my fav my lunch/dinner places. The shaved cabbage is so fresh that you won't mind asking for more. Btw the cabbage is refillable. The best is the sesame dressing and the super fragrant roasted sesame seeds for you to grind on your own. I like the adegashi tofu. The sauce is not too salty. The same taste like the ones i ate in Japan. I usually order the soft and non fat katsu: Hire katsu set. The portion is quite large. If you come in 3 persons, ordee 2 sets will be enough.

Tried this place for the first time as there were seats available on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The pork katsu set was overly oily, and each bite tasted of stale oil. The accompanying miso soup was also under‑flavoured. What affected the experience further was the service. The staff seemed overly eager to rush through tasks, which came at the expense of a comfortable dining experience.

One of the earliest pork katsu shop in Singapore. Here for more than a decade. Always taste good. Always a lot of people. Fast prompt and helpful services with frequent cabbage refill.
