Tambuah Mas Indonesian Restaurant at Paragon has earned recognition in the Michelin Guide Singapore, bringing authentic Indonesian flavours to the heart of Orchard Road since 1987. The name Tambuah Mas means Golden Gold in Indonesian, reflecting the restaurant commitment to delivering precious culinary experiences that showcase the rich diversity of Indonesian regional cuisine. Located at #B1-44 Paragon, the restaurant has become a destination for those seeking halal-certified Indonesian food prepared with authenticity and care.
The menu spans Indonesia archipelago, featuring signatures like Beef Rendang, Nasi Padang, and various sambal preparations that capture the bold, complex spice profiles characteristic of Indonesian cooking. What distinguishes Tambuah Mas is their refusal to simplify flavours for international palates instead, they present Indonesian food as it is meant to be tasted, with proper spice levels and traditional preparation methods that honour culinary heritage.
The Michelin Guide recognition acknowledges what loyal patrons have long known that Tambuah Mas delivers exceptional quality in a comfortable setting. The Paragon location places Indonesian cuisine alongside the world culinary greats, while the pricing remains accessible enough for regular dining rather than special occasions only. For homesick Indonesians and Singaporeans who appreciate authentic neighbouring cuisines, Tambuah Mas offers reliable excellence.

The restaurant is spacious and wasnβt busy at all on a Saturday evening (this says something about the restaurant as most other places in Orchard have snaking queues on Saturday nights). We had high expectations but were left disappointed. Food was served cold including the rice (how?). They should have the decency to at least try to microwave the food. Portions were small, and the food while salty was lacking in any other flavour.

Attn to Julia, I received the worst service ever from you, horrid service in my whole entire life! I did not even manage to step into the restaurant. I supposed she is the supervisor since she is differently dressed-different top. I was there as early at 6pm. I was told that I can be only seated after all guests arrived and was told to wait at the corner and place my order through the qr code when my hands were all full. Shortly after less than 5 mins, I received text from my family that they arrived and in carpark now. So I asked for a seat and I was again rejected despite I said my family already in carpark. There were at least 3 empty tables for 4 pax. Finally I asked for a seat for one pax since I was the only one present, again I was rejected, and she told me troublesome to change table later. So inflexible, rigid mind, and no empathy when I explained my hands were all full of bags.
Btw my family arrived in 5 mins at the restaurant and there were still empty tables. I will never step into your restaurant again.
You don't deserve a star for rejecting a diner!!! I had no choice to give one star just to post it.
Went to another restaurant, Chen's Kitchen, next door and I was promptly seated when my family has not arrived.

The beef rendang was.a bit hard and quite saltish. Needed to eat it with rice. Hot lemongrass water was too sweet. The food was generally nice. However, the service was slow and the attitude of the staff was not good. Went around 1pm on a weekday where it was less crowded. Not sure if it was the location where we were seated at, they didnβt even bother to look at that area to see if we require any assistance.

Best dish for me was the Tahu Telur, which was very good. Also liked the Assam fish which was well balanced and tasty. Had Beef Rendang which was ok but not as the fish and tofu dishes above.
My wife has a sweet tooth and had Chendol too.
Restaurant located on basement of Paragon Shopping Centre near to Orchard and Somerset MRT stations.

An Indonesian restaurant located within Paragon Orchard, often packed with locals as well as tourists due to its location.
Most of the food is skewed towards the sweet and savory side, especially with the kicap manis used. We ordered a few signature dishes like the singkong santan, tahu telur, and rendang to name a few.
Portion wise is smaller for the price paid, just enough to fill one pax or two pax max. So do order a few more varieties to share out. Alternatively, can always get their nasi campur set for a little bit of everything.
They have a few outlets around the island, so do visit the one close to you.

All foods are actually pretty good. All are mild (but not pungent enough).
Beef rendang can be more tender.
They serve foods faster than fast food.

[I donβt always remember to cite the disclaimer but I rate establishments independently and do not receive concessions from them]
I am not knowledgeable on general Indonesian cuisine, but what the Makassar cuisine we had were amazingly flavourful and definitely an art form. Unlike many places where menus follow similar taste patterns (and rely more on ingredient variations) this culinary art is diverse and test your taste buds in every area. Will have to come back for more of different dishes.
