Worst birthday decision ever: Celebrated my birthday here, and it was a huge disappointment. We literally paid for emotional damage. Omakase comparison: -Tried both the $188 and $268 sets to compare. -The $188 set had 7 dishes, while the $268 set came with 9 dishes. -Honestly, there was no real difference in quality between the two. -The only dish that stood out was the starter, which was actually quite good. Everything else was mediocre at best. -They only got one dish right—the starter. The rest were forgettable. Food quality: -Bland, underwhelming, and definitely not worth the price. -Honestly, a cheaper omakase elsewhere (under $128) would taste better. Service: -The staff was polite but lacked basic food etiquette. Example: When I mentioned the mini nabe hotpot was too hot, the waiter blew on it with her mouth—unhygienic and unprofessional. Soup texture: -3 of our bowls of calm soup had a gritty, sandy texture. It was unpleasant and definitely not something you'd expect from a restaurant with a 25-year experienced chef in charge. Presentation: -The food looked cheap and poorly presented Food explanations: -The explanations of the dishes were minimal. There was little effort to engage or describe the flavors. The vibe: -The restaurant was almost empty the entire time we were there—about 80% unoccupied. - if I had to "read the room," no one seemed impressed. Nobody was commenting on how delicious the food was. Pricing and discounts: -I asked if there were any discounts available, but the staff said no. However, right after I walked out, I noticed a huge poster outside advertising vouchers that could be used instantly for a 15% discount. -Had I known about this, I would have saved some money. Conclusion: -Would not recommend Sushi Jin to anyone. -The food didn’t justify the high price, the service was unrefined, and the overall experience was disappointing. -There are far better, more affordable omakase options in Singapore that offer better food, value, and a more enjoyable experience. Patronised them when they were at Fareer park, and I felt that standards at Fareer park was way better.
