This is one of the better mixed vegetable rice. The taste is good and food is delicious. The price is reasonable. However, there is always a queue and seating is limited.

I really like the flavours in the dishes here. It is pricier than regular cai fan places, yet understandably so since it is in Orchard. The veggies were seasoned and cooked really well, which tells of the skill of the chef(s). The pork chop was tender enough and also really tasty. $1 for a piping hot bowl of soup was good value. I enjoyed how the staff took care to make sure that everyone who dined in was comfortably seated. The queue was long during weekday lunch hour but moved along fast.

This isn't your average "economy rice" establishment; it's a family-run affair, lovingly managed by two Cantonese sisters. I have been a loyal customer of this little corner eatery for over 20 years, and what consistently brings me back is their home-style cooking. It strikes the perfect balance – never too salty, never too oily. Even after a generously portioned meal, my stomach feels comfortably satisfied, not heavy or sluggish. Unlike some lunches that leave you reaching for an afternoon nap, her food leaves you feeling energised. The variety of dishes, it must be said, is somewhat limited and rather standard. In fact, she prepares the same dishes virtually every day. However, this predictability is part of its charm; her regular patrons know exactly what to expect and appreciate the consistency. A particular highlight of the meal is the S$1 soup. Her soups are predominantly Cantonese in style – light, subtly seasoned with just a touch of salt, and, crucially, free from MSG. It is a simple pleasure that perfectly complements the meal. Given its location in the heart of Orchard Road, the rental costs have inevitably increased significantly over the past two decades. However, rather than passing these costs on to her customers by raising food prices, she has chosen to relocate her eatery several times, each time finding a more affordable shop front. Remarkably, her prices have remained consistent for the last 10 years, a testament to her commitment to providing affordable, quality food. Due to the smaller shop front, tables and seats are limited, and the eatery is invariably crowded during lunch hours. Consequently, it is advisable to finish your meal and make way for other diners. Susan Chan Food has been my favourite spot for an "economy rice" lunch for years, and this place will forever have my unwavering support, that is, until the sisters eventually decide to retire. Both of them are quite elderly, by the way, and one can only hope they continue to grace us with their culinary talents for many years to come.

Best lunch place in the city area yet affordable. Tried their Fried Chicken, Stir Fry Long Beans, omellete, and salted pork for $10. Must try the first 2, the salted pork is not as fragrant as the chicken, but still soft and edible. Get the soup of the day for $1 only with, small bits of meat. Lunch time is very crowded, to aim before 12pm to ensure place for dining in :)

Food taste like homecook food but service and attitude from the owners are bad. Force you to eat faster and now even worst - must have minimum amount of $5 for a mixed rice then can order

My favourite cai fan stall in the area. Love their har cheong gai (prawn paste fried chicken) - it is crispy and very flavourful.

Definitely one of the best mixed veg rice stalls in Singapore. Salted egg yolk pork rib is their signature dish, and supremely delicious. Prawn paste chicken is a boneless crispy delicacy. The lotus root soup was also flavourful and delish. The rest of the dishes I tried were also excellent. The stall is very busy during lunch with limited seats, but you will always be able to find a seat, as diners typically finish their meal in 10 mins on average and move off.

One of the most expensive you can find at Orchard Rd. Simple 2 veg + 2 meat rice combo cost almost SGD10, that otherwise cost less in a normal food court. And this shop is old looking and not worth the price paying for. Avoid it if you're not overly hungry.

Probably the best place for cai fan (rice and assorted dishes) in Singapore. However after 2pm the menu changes to a different menu The dishes are cooked in batches, and there are always queues, meaning it’s fresh. Although the food is tasty, it’s not oily. There’s also a variety of classic favourites and hard to find specials (salted egg yolk pork chop). You can also request for soup. Also brown rice option. Especially for orchard road, the price is reasonable - $7.50 for brown rice with tofu, 2 veggie, 1 omelette and 1 soup. Even though there are queues, the staff are efficient and you rarely wait more than 5-10 mins for your turn to order and even sit (most are takeaways). Truly a rare gem where there are healthy options, tasty, in the middle of shopping district.

Everytime I come Far East Plaza for lunch on a weekday, there will always a long queue for this store. My curiosity was piqued and wanted to know what was the hype. A great variety of dishes from vegetables, meat and sides. Rice grains is the grainy type. Small dining space, buy 1st then take a seat. Separate queue for takeaway. Was flabbergasted when my 3 Veg 1 Meat was charged at $7.50. Dk how the pricing system works but taste wise pretty average cai fan level. Veg were pretty nice and warm. Ordered the pork salted egg and its rather tough and wet. I rate: 3/5 🌟 Soup is $1 a bowl which I think is the cheapest really because the ingredients and time taken to boil this actually takes lots of effort. The soup of the day was Black Beans chicken soup. A lot of beans. Soup is piping hot. I rate: 5/5 🌟
