SANPOUTEI RAMEN brings authentic Japanese ramen traditions to Singapore, specializing in rich, flavorful broths simmered for extended hours to extract maximum depth from bones, aromatics, and seasonings. The restaurant focuses on classic ramen preparations including tonkotsu (pork bone), shoyu (soy sauce), miso, and shio (salt) bases, each requiring specific techniques and timing to achieve proper flavor profiles and consistency. The tonkotsu broth, particularly labor-intensive, undergoes marathon cooking sessions that break down collagen and marrow, creating the signature creamy white soup beloved by ramen enthusiasts. Noodles are carefully selected or made to complement each broth type, with thickness, texture, and preparation methods varying according to regional ramen traditions. Toppings include chashu (braised pork belly), seasoned soft-boiled eggs with jammy yolks, bamboo shoots, scallions, nori seaweed, and sometimes special additions like wood ear mushrooms or corn. Diners can typically customize spice levels, noodle firmness, and extra toppings to create personalized bowls. The casual restaurant setting reflects typical Japanese ramen shop atmosphere with counter seating allowing views of kitchen preparation and table seating for groups. The focus remains firmly on the ramen itself rather than extensive menus, ensuring kitchen attention stays concentrated on perfecting their specialty. For ramen purists seeking authentic flavors and techniques, SANPOUTEI RAMEN delivers satisfaction through commitment to traditional methods that honor Japan's ramen culture while adapting to Singapore's diverse dining landscape.

Came for the tsukemen, got the tsukemen
We also got a side of lousy service and dose of higher than average wait time for our food which could have been better managed (food seemed to be batched by kitchen)
As mentioned by other reviewers, service is not the best.
Food is good, but service is lamentable

The ramen itself was tasty—that’s the one star they earned. However, the overall experience was disappointing. Service was slow, and staff often avoided eye contact and seemed uncomfortable communicating. The wait time was especially frustrating: I waited over 30 minutes for a bowl of dry noodles.
Other customers who arrived later were served within 10 minutes, while some waited over 20 minutes like I did. Such inconsistency in serving times needs serious improvement, especially in a busy Orchard location. Even for a newly opened shop, this level of disorganization is hard to overlook.

My favorite ramen restaurant.
Shoyu bases ramen has aroma of fish and thickness of pork bones. Seabura (back fat of pork) makes it perfection.

Didn't realise they opened a new branch here at paragon. Having gone to the Holland village and Shaw house branch, I have to say the interior here is much better. More modern, more space, less cramped and there were actually booth seats so you get some privacy. We came on a Sunday and walked in around 6.30pm. Thankfully no queye. Standard of food was consistent across all three branches. Service was great as well. If I do come back to dine, it would definitely be at this branch.

The q here is shorter than the outlet at Shaw.
But the food is equally delicious!
Especially love the Tsukemen noodles (dry dipping ramen) 😍 Try it!

Having been to the Shaw outlet, I know the food will be good. And indeed, the ramen was great. Service was slow but understandable as it was the lunch rush hour, can't fault the staff for that.
