Project Acai at Ngee Ann City holds the distinction of being Singapore's first dedicated açaí café, pioneering the superfood bowl movement that has since swept across the island's health food scene. Located at #B2-32A in Takashimaya Shopping Centre, this cosy outlet has been serving freshly blended açaí bowls and smoothies since 2015, long before antioxidant-rich foods became mainstream.
What makes Project Acai special is their unwavering commitment to authenticity. Unlike many establishments that use pre-mixed açaí blends loaded with added sugars, Project Acai uses pure açaí packets sourced directly from Brazil, ensuring that customers receive the full nutritional benefits of this Amazonian superfood. The result is bowls that are rich in antioxidants, naturally sweet rather than cloying, and genuinely healthy rather than merely health-conscious in appearance.
The menu features signature creations like the Original Flower Bowl – an artfully arranged bowl topped with fresh fruits, granola, and superfood toppings that's as Instagrammable as it is nutritious. The Nuts for Acai variation adds extra crunch and protein for those seeking a more substantial meal. All bowls are customisable, allowing customers to build their perfect combination based on dietary preferences and nutritional needs.
The café caters to various dietary requirements with low-sugar, gluten-free, and vegan options that don't compromise on flavour. For those new to açaí, the staff are happy to guide first-timers through the menu and explain what makes these purple bowls worth the hype. Open daily from 11am to 9:30pm, Project Acai provides a healthy refuelling option for Orchard Road shoppers who want nourishment that actually nourishes.

I honestly came here feeling excited to get my açaí bowl, but I left feeling completely disappointed and angry. The service at Project Açaí (Ngee Ann City) is honestly one of the worst I’ve experienced. The staff were cold, unfriendly, and just plain rude. No greeting, no effort — they looked annoyed the whole time, like serving customers was a burden.
Even with mask on, you could just feel the attitude— the way the staff carried herself and spoke was so defensive and condescending.
I used to like their açaí, but after today, I’m done. I felt so disrespected and unwelcome. It’s sad because the food is good, but customer service matters just as much. Never coming back here again — there are better places with kinder people who actually appreciate their customers.

One if the best places in Orchard for an acai bawl. But, be aware that this place has no seating area

Could not have enough of Project Acai, we will definitely return for more. Tried both of their popular flavours - awesome!

Their acai bowl truly stands out. The flavors were perfectly balanced and refreshing. It's a delightful treat any time of day. The texture was smooth and creamy, making each bite enjoyable.

It was my first time trying acai and it was delicious! The açaí itself was refreshing and the toppings were really generous, which made the bowl super satisfying. The staff were also really helpful in guiding me through the order process which I appreciated. There weren’t any seats at the stall, but I managed to find a spot nearby to enjoy it, so it was still perfectly fine. Definitely glad I tried it!

I have been frequenting this place for years and have always found the smoothies to be consistent in their taste and textures. The chocolate smoothie is by far my favourite and it is always a nice pick me up at the end of a long day of work.
One small gripe I have is that the last time I visited, the staff asked me to scan a QR code to order. I completely understand QR ordering and can imagine it is great especially for high volume shops. However, all 3 staff were just busy chucking rubbish into the bin as it was close to closing and they were definitely not busy.
The lack of human interaction is something that I will miss and hope they bring back. Otherwise, perfect smoothie as usual!
