Penang Kitchen at Far East Plaza brings the distinctive flavours of Penang's hawker culture to Singapore's Orchard area, serving authentic Malaysian street food favourites that have made Penang a culinary destination. The restaurant specialises in dishes that showcase the island's unique fusion of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences, from char kway teow and assam laksa to nasi lemak and curry mee.
The signature offerings include Penang-style char kway teow, flat rice noodles wok-fried with prawns, cockles, Chinese sausage, bean sprouts and eggs in dark soy sauce, delivering the smoky wok hei that distinguishes quality preparations. Assam laksa represents another Penang icon, featuring rice noodles in tamarind-based fish broth topped with mint, pineapple, cucumber and pungent shrimp paste, creating the complex sour-spicy-savoury flavour profile beloved by laksa enthusiasts.
The menu extends to other Malaysian favourites including rojak with its sweet-spicy peanut sauce, popiah fresh spring rolls, and various curry preparations that reflect Penang's multicultural heritage. Nasi lemak arrives with the essential components of coconut rice, ikan bilis, peanuts, egg and sambal, whilst curry mee delivers yellow noodles in rich coconut curry broth with toppings.
For Singaporeans missing the tastes of Penang or tourists seeking to experience Malaysian cuisine without leaving the Orchard district, Penang Kitchen provides authentic preparations at accessible prices. The restaurant maintains the casual, no-frills approach characteristic of Malaysian hawker establishments, focusing attention on the bold flavours and generous portions that have made Penang food legendary across the region.

Fantastic find in this mall, brings back nostalgia. Penang char kway teow the best amongst the dishes ordered with generous scattering of lup cheong. The fried carrot cake had lots of bean sprouts and egg. Pie tee, lor bak and rojak were decent. Penang laksa was the only dish kind of underwhelming. Overall an enjoyable meal.

The fried rice noodles and the fried carrot cake is good, the rojah feels like another dish but itโs still good. The Penang laksa is not good, it is not sweet enough not sour enough not enough prawn paste. Itโs somehow a disappointment for that dish

Someone recommended this plc becos I like Penang Char Kway Teow.
And this plc serve a pretty good plate of Penang CKT with decent wok hei.
After eating, I ended up ordering the appetizer sampler set (chicken wing and lor bak) to take away for my wife. The lor bak aka Nogh Hiang is quite unique.

Nice little area for some authentic penang food. I ordered the rojak and char kuey teow. Both were pretty nice. The ambra juice wasn't available so I guess I'll make another trip here to try this drink and other dishes.

Had lunch here and food was so delicious. We ordered char kway teow, prawn noodle soup, keuh pie tee & fuong omelette and 2 drinks.
Char kway teow had a fantastic wok hey, both taste and smell. It has a springy texture and a visible char on the kway teow. Seasoned well and every bite was consistent. I personally love this taste profile of any char kway teow.
Prawn noodle soup has a very obvious red oil on the top layer of the soup. Which explains that prawn shells were deep fried before and made into the soup. It does have this very fragrant and subtle prawn shell fragrance to it. The dept of the soup that was contributed by the bone broth was solid. Noodles and beehoon were springy in texture chilli belecan give a nice acidity and cuts through the rich soup nicely.
Kueh Pie Tee has a crispy shell and a very nice harmougenous taste and texture with the stewed turnips. The only downside in my opinion is that the turnip stew wasn't as hot as i hoped it would be. Overall is delicious.
Furong omelette was soooo cirspy and fluffy. Prawns and onions were nicely seasoned. Loved it alot.
The stall is surrounded by hair salons and nail salons. It has a white with gold words signboard. Have to admit its abit hard to notice but still visible. Space they had is abit smaller... Nice and cozy for small group of 4 for a meal. Highly recommend!
