We ordered the steak with fries, miso codfish, curry lamb shank, and duck confit. We requested the steak to be 50% well-done, but it ended up overcooked and the meat was very tough. The lamb was tender, but the curry sauce lacked flavour. The duck confit and miso codfish were both tasty, but the portions were very small. Considering the portion size, it felt expensive, and we were still hungry after finishing the main courses.
They also serve pastries and sandwiches. However, the service was very poor when taking our order. We had to repeat our orders several times as the staff didn’t bother to write them down. She didn’t even ask how we wanted the steak done and just walked off until we had to stop her ourselves. The staff seemed like trainees — we had to raise our hands high and wait a long time to get their attention. They weren’t observant, didn’t notice when our water was empty, and we had to keep asking for refills.
Overall, it was totally not worth it.

First time at this outlet and am disappointed with the poor service. I've been to other Paul outlets, even overseas in KL, but have not encountered such a bad service before. After 30 minutes of ordering (and our food being served by then), we still had not received our drinks. I therefore proceeded to ask one of the service crew for iced water (while we waited for the drinks). He at first said okay, then came all the way back to me about 2 minutes later to instruct me: "if you see one of my colleagues can you tell them to get you the water. I am quite swamped with serving food". I have never encountered such an experience. Not too long after I called another crew and she did not even listen and ran away. It took me calling a third service crew and 15 minutes more after that encounter for us to finally get our iced water and drinks. By the time we got our drinks, our food was cold and of course, the whole dining experience was ruined.
I am always understanding and have the upmost respect for f&b service crew because it's not an easy job, but I have never encountered such a bunch of unfriendly, unhelpful and disoriented service team before. Will never dine at this outlet again!

Been coming here since it opened on the 3rd floor at Ngee Ann in 2012. Came to check out the newly renovated location on the 4th floor. Was not disappointed, they are consistently good.
King prawn and scallop pasta came with 2 large grilled fresh prawns and 4 nicely seared scallops. Pasta was al dente with light and flavorful sauce.
The curry lamb shank was its usual generous portion with lots of melt in your mouth fat and connective tissue, my preference.
Fries were fresh and hot, not oily.
Ambience was light and airy, service was attentive but unobtrusive.

We recently dined at this restaurant and had an excellent experience. Their staff particularly Thea was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was prompt, and she was always ready to offer recommendations. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! Every dish was well-prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for both great service and amazing food.

Nice cafe to hang out at Taka. We all know Paul’s pastries are good, their mains are surprisingly good as well. We went there on a Sat afternoon and whole place was packed! We were served by Mei Xuan and she was really friendly and helpful - it was a great dining experience despite the super packed crowd. Good service always makes the difference! We will be back.
