Love their creme brûlée egg tart, one of the best egg tarts in Singapore and beyond. Their cereal prawn cookies is addictive with bursts of umami prawn flavour when you bite into it, very good. Their quiche tart is good too but I don’t enjoy onions so am not so fond of it. The blue pea chiffon cake is pretty gimmicky, taste wise it isn’t as good as Bengawan Solo’s Pandan Chiffon cake, it isn’t as smooth as moist as well. Their packaging of their cookies looks great too, suitable for gifting.

Received some Chinese New Year cookies from friends. The product was from Old Seng Choong. The packaging looked good. After I had tried the Pineapple tart and different types of cookies. To be frank, the Pineapple tart with Bua kwa tasted wierd. Cookies taste too sweet and a bit hard.

After sweeping the shelves for CNY snacks just two days ago, I am back at Old Seng Choong (Paragon) for their bakes! For the baked goods - must haves - Black sesame mochi, truffle golden turkey, lao po bing, black truffle char siew, and butterfly bluepea chiffon cake. All delicious and memorable. For the tinned cookies - must have flavours - hae bee hiam, early grey, coffee, kueh kosui, and black truffle were great. Interesting ones include bak kut teh, goreng pisang, satay and laksa flavours. Most importantly, can vouch for their quality - crisp, buttery, flavorful, with exquisite packaging - a definite crowd pleaser for gifting and festive periods. Service - very friendly crew, knowledgeable and they are earnest to assist and it’s a store culture to let customers try most samples on good that they are keen on. Not pushy, and genuinely nice to talk to. Am truly impressed. Succinctly, OSC is traditional bakes reimagined fashionably. At a premium, but they definitely deliver. Highly recommended.

Tried their Lao Po Bing :-) Quite nice, I saw that their chiffon cakes have an interesting colour (brown and blue) would like to try that next time.
