Very authentic Japanese joint! Tried their course set this time and were good , will try the ala carte items next time. They offered a free drink for Google reviews but this is my honest feedback after the meal . Their chicken tempura surprised me, I’m never a fan of chicken breast much less it fried, but theirs was tender and moist 👍

The food? Absolutely outstanding. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. It's clear the kitchen puts heart and soul into every plate. The service was just as impressive—warm, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. I felt genuinely welcomed from start to finish. What truly made the evening unforgettable, though, was the thoughtful surprise from the chef. I was treated to a special birthday dessert, and it was not only delicious but deeply heartwarming. That small, unexpected gesture made me feel truly valued as a guest. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, top-notch service, and a personal touch that makes all the difference.

Rare to find a restaurant specializing in Oita food where I lived in Japan. Specialties like chicken tempura, duck hotpot, and ryukyu (marinated sashimi) are must to try!! Would love to chat with the owner in future when she’s not so busy cooking. 😅

Nice cozy izakaya to chill and enjoy good food and beer after a day of hard work. The place is really small so do make reservation in advance. We ordered 8 dishes for sharing amongst 4 pax and we enjoyed every single dish. Here’s my review on some of them: Momoya salad - at first I thought the veggie is going to taste very raw but it turned out really nice! The cabbage is sweet and the salad sauce is refreshing. Very appetizing! Crab cream croquette with salmon roe - well fried, not dense or greasy and the filling is creamy and flavorful. The exterior is sturdy and hold its shape. I couldn’t resist a second serving! Chicken tempura - Not to be mistaken with Tori karaage, this is a beloved dish in Oita, consists of tender non-marinated chicken pieces coated in a light, crispy tempura batter, deep fried served with squeezed Kabosu (citrus fruit) and ponzu sauce with mustard on the side. This dish showcases the freshness of the poultry, delicate seasoning, and Momo san’s expert frying technique. Chives with Oita eggs - looks ordinary but taste so good! Rich, creamy and aromatic. Goes so well with the mild flavour chives (probably Japan sourced too). Bonito tataki - really fresh fish nicely seared on the outside. Goes perfectly with the seasoning sauce with onions and spring onions in it. So good! Duck hotpot - interesting because few places use duck for their hotpot. It’s not bad but the soup gets abit saltish at the end because of the (smoked?) duck slices. Worth giving a try! Overall, food is really fresh and delicious. Service is friendly and prompt too. I would return to try other dishes!
