Standard has dropped. The broth tasted like water from washing dishes and the batang fish was tough, unlike before when the soup was flavorful and tasty and the meat tender and delicious. Am sad, I had liked it so much.

Fish Soup On Your Mind ? - here is the recommendation! King Grouper Fish Soup at Food Republic in 311 mall at Orchard. Singapore has plenty of restaurants and outlets serving Fish soup and I like the precision and consistency with which they make the soup. King Grouper is one such place serving delicious soup. Do try the soup with clay pot noodles. I loved the preparation so much that didn’t leave a drop in my bowl 🍜

This is my go-to place if I want to pamper myself when eating good teochew fish soup. Although it’s not cheap, but their fish are fresh and very thick slices. I always go for the red grouper, vs batang fish. Becos u can get batang fish at many other plcs. Their 1 thick slice of red grouper is almost the 2-3 slices at other places. And becos it’s thick, it has more bite. The soup is clear and flavorful. Pls keep up the standard. I tried a few other King Grouper Fish Soup outlets… I personally still prefer the Wisma Atria. Just my personal tots.. no right or wrong. Also at Wisma outlet, your partner/ frens can have other good food choices eg Chicken Rice/ Nasi Pandang/ Prawn Noodles etc..

I have noticed that the King Grouper outlet at Wisma Atria has a higher Google rating than the branch in Capitol Piazza. However, I much prefer the Capitol Piazza branch, and here's why: The Capitol Piazza outlet offers a far superior dining experience compared to the rather less pleasant food court setting at Food Republic. The air conditioning at Wisma Atria is noticeably less effective, becoming particularly uncomfortable as lunchtime approaches with more crowd. Furthermore, the serving portions at Wisma Atria are lacking several items I particularly enjoy, such as fish cakes and fish balls. While mince meat is offered as a substitute, this is only included in a limited selection of dishes. The staff at Wisma Atria also appear less friendly and considerably less patient when questioned about the menu or the absence of certain ingredients. Prices are also slightly higher at Wisma Atria than at the Capitol Piazza branch. However, they do offer discounts to mitigate this price difference. There are, of course, some advantages to the Wisma Atria outlet. They provide a 10% discount for senior citizens over 60 with PassionCard, and they accept ShopBack for a 5% cashback reward. It's worth noting, however, that these discounts cannot be used concurrently. Interestingly, my friend commented that the fish slices at Wisma are larger and thicker. Personally, I found no discernible difference in size or thickness between the two outlets. In conclusion, I strongly prefer the Capitol Piazza branch due to its less confusing menu, slightly lower prices, and the noticeably more courteous staff. The improved dining environment alone makes it a far more enjoyable experience.

This review is meant for the stall at Somerset 313, but I couldn't locate on gmaps. I absolutely loved the fresh fish slices (non-fried). Fresh tomatoes and greens! Paid $9 for this, at first I thought it was expensive, but the portion size made the money worth. The soup is salty though, would be great if you have a healthier option (less sodium), this would appeal very much to health concious people these days. FYI I don't remember like the one at Wisma that much.

I visited the store with my colleague as our office is nearby. Suggest you go there around 11.15AM to find a table as the store is located in Food Republic. When I was there around 12pm, there’s a long queue for order and waiting for the food. Overall the fish slice is thick and big versus other fish soup store. Fish is fresh, fried fish slice not oily but moisture. I ordered duel fish soup with beehoon and my colleagues order teochew fish soup. My dish is 8$ and quite fulfilling for me.

The good tasted super bad, bland, like water only. The rice is wet, noddle uncooked and fish smelly like not fresh.

Visited on 1 July 2025 and ordered the red grouper fish soup with rice for $11. Unfortunately, two of the fish slices didn't taste fresh - they had a strong fishy flavor. Given the price point, I expect consistently fresh ingredients. Appreciate it if the quality of the fish can be improved to match the price. Overall, a decent meal but needs work on freshness."

Located in Wisma Atria's foodcourt, I really recommend their Fried Fish Soup. The large size soup has 10 slices of fish and it can be shared between 2 people. So you only spend SGD 12 in total; SGD 10 for the large size fish soup and SGD 2 for 2 bowls of rice (white rice is SGD 1 each). It's a good deal and very filling meal. I also recommend adding a lot of their sauce and fried shallots. Their sauce has a citrus scent and some white onion in it, it's not spicy at all and it really works well with the hot soup! The fried fish is the best for me cause it adds more texture to the soup. There's no bone in the fish either, everything is perfectly filleted and cooked. There are also some minced meat in the soup which are quite tasty. It's the best to have on a rainy day and when you're really hungry!

Thick succulent slices of red grouper. About 5-6 pieces for a large $12 portion. Served with crunchy and fresh cabbage and a few slices of tomatoes. Also comes with 3 chunks of minced pork. The soup broth was light and to some it could be a little bland but it was perfect for me. Server was quick and efficient, there was a never ending queue despite on a Saturday late evening.
