Katachi Sushi Bar brings authentic Japanese omakase to Orchard Plaza with an intimate 11-seater counter setting. Located at #01-49, 150 Orchard Road, this charming sushi haven operates Tuesday through Sunday from 6pm to midnight, closed Mondays, offering a refined dining experience in the heart of the shopping district.
The restaurant has earned recognition among Japanese expats who recommend it for authentic preparations that honour traditional sushi craftsmanship. Chef meticulously crafts each course, presenting exquisite sushi alongside premium grilled specialties like Gindara Saikyo Yaki, black cod marinated in sweet miso. The counter seating allows diners to observe the chef's precise knife work and plating techniques, creating an engaging theatrical element.
Omakase courses start from $68++, offering exceptional value for the quality and experience delivered. The menu progresses through three tiers: the KATACHI course ($88), FUJI course ($98), and MIYABI-WAGYU course ($98), the latter specifically designed for wine pairing with premium wagyu beef. Each course features seasonal sashimi, nigiri sushi selections, and specialty dishes that showcase the chef's creativity within traditional frameworks.
True to its name, Katachi emphasises Japanese wine alongside sake and other beverage options. Staff demonstrate extensive knowledge, readily recommending pairings or sourcing special bottles upon request. The combination of accessible pricing, intimate atmosphere, and commitment to authenticity has attracted a loyal following. Reservations are highly recommended given the limited seating capacity.

Lavin was a great host! We enjoyed ourselves! The omakase set was affordable and importantly fresh and amazing! Had to say better than some of the omakase I had in Japan! Atmosphere was great as well and Lavin ensured that we were having a great time! She was accomodating and always check in on us 👍 Strongly recommended! Will come again! 👍

The sushi set was truly delightful, with each piece showcasing freshness and balance. The uni stood out with its rich, creamy texture, while the tuna was exceptionally fresh and flavorful. Every bite felt carefully crafted. A memorable and satisfying dining experience overall.

Excellent experience at Katashi, the food was amazing and great value for the price. We had the uni set - the uni was fresh, sweet and delicious. The sashimi and sushi were so fresh and clean tasting. Highly recommend and would definitely revisit 💯 Thank you Lavin for being so friendly and such an amazing host, she made the experience such a memorable one! Super personable and friendly :-)

I'm not sure what to feel about this place, on one hand, the food was amazing and the sushi chef was skilled (I think he is local), but on the other hand, the atmosphere was totally not as I expected. As we arrived early and waited outside, the female phillipino staff saw us and yet did not ask us to come in. When we sat down, she seemed inexperienced, broke a cup, and the chef was telling her off infront of us. Saying how she didn't know how to operate anything and told us she was covering for someone else's shift. During the meal, there were some comments from her about how the usual staff would play Japanese music, and she found it boring? The sushi chef made some offhand comments about Japanese people as well. It was such a jarring experience. I wanted a relaxing birthday dinner. Good meal, but appalling experience.

I visit sushi restaurants quite often, but this was the first time a chef served everything oriented for a left-handed guest.
As a left-hander, I was genuinely delighted by this thoughtful gesture.
The attention to detail and hospitality made the experience truly special.
Thank you for the wonderful service — I’ll definitely be coming back!
