They have very few seats, better be early or late to avoid lunch crowd or takeaway. Chicken is super crispy and flavorful to eat with their sambal and belacan chilli; Chicken rice has the nice chicken fragrant and soft😋

Who exactly is Mr. Grumpy ? Anyway , the fried chicken is nice . Chicken good amount of meat and breading.
Good enough portion with the rice. $6.50 itself for the chicken rice .$10 combo with a drink and 2 sides, seems a lot but if you are Hungry and are those who needs a drink with their meal, go for it.
Do not find seat, let him/them assigned …. Maybe that’s the part not to make him ‘angrryyyyy’

One man, one dish, and it’s worth it. Came across this ayam penyet spot run by the famously grumpy owner, Mr. Grumpy himself. No smiles, no small talk, just straight-up efficiency. He’s got a stone cold exterior, but honestly, I get the feeling there’s a kind soul under all that.
There’s only one thing on the menu, so don’t overthink it, order first, sit down and enjoy. The chicken is freshly fried and flavorful, the rice is fragrant, and the soup that comes with it is surprisingly comforting.
It’s in Orchard, so by that standard, the price is decent. A no-frills, quietly excellent meal that speaks louder than any smile could.

Love the crispy fried chicken with the chicken rice. Combo set comes with drink, 3 quail eggs and potato begidil for $10. The chicken and rice portions were reasonable so I think the price is fair. Service was fast and friendly. They were busy but queue was fast. I was there around 230pm. limited seatings so I was lucky.

Queue and then wait for your seat. They will tell you where to seat. No one was grumpy here. The staff were in fact quite friendly.
The food is not bad. The chicken is tender and juicy, the batter is crispy and tasty. It’s good to coupled with the chili quail eggs but I will skip if they have long queue.

Still the best fried chicken rice in town. Mr Grumpy is not around today when I visited. Opted for the $10 set with a drink.

The food here is solid. Fresh crispy juicy chicken, tasty rice, spicy shiok sambal. I chose bergedil and liver as my sides and they were delicious and generous. Even the soup was good. As a set meal with a canned drink for $10, this is a steal in town.
Only downside is the very limited seats but turnover was quite fast on a weekday at 2pm.
I found the service staff to be friendly and efficient too. Glad I finally tried it, definitely 5 stars for me.

Finally trying Mr Grumpy's fried chicken rice. Visited during friday lunch time. Never see him, it's ok just came for the food.
Never face any grumpiness or rude staff.
Ordered 2 combo sets, chose 4 different side dishes to go along. Quail eggs, gizzard, liver and bergedil. All tasted nice. Rice is somewhat fragrant. Fried chicken was really good. Super loved the crispiness and the meat inside also tender, not super dry those kind.
Damn yums and I probably have it again another time.
If order just the fried chicken rice is at $6.50. Top with 2 sides and 1 drink at $10 is quite worth it.

Came during lunch on a weekday. Waited for approx 5-10mins (luckily)! Chicken rice was fragrant, chicken was super crispy, hot and totally yumz. I would say generous portion actually - $10 for this with a small bowl of soup and canned drink on the side. Yumzzz

Best ayam penyet of my life… 👍🏼 Delicious and big portion. Reasonable priced. The soup tastes exactly like one I had back in school. Nostalgic!
