A Slow Cup operates on the sixth floor of The Cathay at 2 Handy Road, unit 06-06, offering specialty coffee in an intimate space tucked within Painted Nail Bar. After relocating from Robertson Walk, this petite café brings its "slow down" philosophy to Orchard Road, creating a quiet retreat above the shopping district's bustle near The Cathay Residences lobby.
Run by the team behind the nail salon, A Slow Cup serves mellow coffee blends and thoughtful bakes in deliberately tranquil surroundings. The signature "Mellow Magic" blend comes from Flip Coffee Roasters, a medium roast combining Brazilian and Colombian beans that balance approachability with character. Coffee options span Espresso, Piccolo, Black, White and Mocha at accessible prices from four to six-fifty dollars.
Unique beverages include the signature Slow Einspanner, milky oolong and strawberry matcha, expanding beyond standard café offerings. These specialty drinks attract customers seeking alternatives to ubiquitous latte and cappuccino options. The menu emphasises quality over quantity, with small batches ensuring freshness and consistency. Limited seating reinforces the intimate atmosphere, accommodating customers who appreciate cosy spaces over sprawling café floors.
Operating hours run Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with last brew at 4.30pm, extending to 5.30pm weekends with final orders at 5pm. These daytime hours suit the café's positioning as a recharge spot for shoppers and workers rather than evening hangout. The sixth-floor location provides views and quiet that ground-level cafés cannot match, appealing to those seeking genuine respite from Orchard Road's intensity.

interesting concept for coffee with limited seating
coffee was well brewed and they have good equipment for such
the seating was limited and small, not the kind of place youd sit and read a book / do work at, more of a sip and go.
my concern / issue is that it is right beside a nail salon for mani pedi. thankfully there were no nail filing when i was there, but doubt itll be hygienic if there is nail dust floating whilst sipping your coffee

Visited a slow cup when it was previously tucked inside a nail bar at Robertson Walk, but they have since relocated to The Cathay. Despite its small space, it gives off warm, minimalistic, and relaxing vibes. It was quiet when I visited on a Sunday afternoon, making it a great spot for a slow weekend treat.
I had the Iced Einspanner Latte ($7.50) and Applewood Smoked Cheddar Biscuit ($6) as part of their $12 bundle, and it was the perfect pairing. The einspanner was beautifully balanced and rich. The fluffy whipped Okinawa molasses cream adds a nice sweetness but not overly so, making it one of the better versions I’ve tried.
The biscuit was fragrant, buttery, and savory with a distinct cheesy aroma, complemented nicely by the apple, chai, and sage jelly on the side that added just the right touch of sweetness. It’s a little dense, but still a satisfying and flavorful snack to go with coffee.

Discovered A Slow Cup at The Cathay and instantly loved the calm, cozy atmosphere, the perfect spot to unwind amidst the city buzz. Though small, the café feels warm and minimalist, ideal for a morning pick me up.
I had the Iced White and a cookie, both were excellent. The coffee was smooth and well-balanced with just the right hint of sweetness, while the cookie was rich, chocolate-y.
Service is relaxed but pleasant, and the overall vibe makes this a great little hideaway for anyone needing a quiet moment or a good cup of coffee.

was out on a very hot day an i d chanced upon this quaint and zen cafe in Cathay, so i decided to check it out and rest a little before continuing the long day ahead. this place truly lives up to its name. i ordered a drink for my intended quick break. but this place is soooo cozy with friendly and helpful staff that i decided to take it slow with a slow cup instead of rushing off like i'd initially intended to. definitely would recommend this cosy place to anyone looking for rest place in the midst of shopping and rushing in between places. why rush anywhere if you can just take a slow cup and forget about the mad rush in life?

Among the best coffee options in the area. Their tea is also nice (I tried their oolong). The service could be improved as when I went staff came across a bit bored.
