adidas Orchard Ignition: F1 Car Demo Takes Over Orchard Road on 30 August

adidas Orchard Ignition brought a live Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 car demo to Orchard Road on 30 August, closing the road from 10am for race runs and a fan festival with BABYMONSTER.

adidas + Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Take Over Orchard Road on 30 August

Orchard Road turned into a temporary Formula 1 street track on Sunday, 30 August, as sportswear brand adidas and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team staged the adidas Orchard Ignition event — Singapore's first live F1 car demonstration on the boulevard in over a decade.

The two-day takeover, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board as part of Grand Prix Season Singapore, brought motorsport, music and K-pop together in the heart of the shopping belt.

Mercedes reserve driver Fred Vesti drove the team's F1 car down a 600-metre temporary track stretching from Paragon to Tangs at Tang Plaza. Three high-speed demo runs took place at 3pm, 3.30pm and 3.45pm, each lasting around five to ten minutes.

K-pop girl group BABYMONSTER performed the official flag-off before taking part in hot laps in a Mercedes-AMG car featuring a Singapore-exclusive livery.

Road Closure and Bus Diversions

To stage the demos, a section of Orchard Road between Scotts Road and Bideford Road was closed from 10am to 8.30pm. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that 18 bus services would skip three bus stops along Orchard Road and Paterson Road during the closure.

  • Bus stop 0947 (Orchard MRT / Tang Plaza): Services 36, 77, 124, 143, 167, 174, 190, 518 and 972/972M
  • Bus stop 09048 (Orchard MRT / Lucky Plaza): Services 7, 14, 16, 65, 106, 111, 123, 175 and 502
  • Bus stop 13191 (opposite Orchard MRT Exit 12, Paterson Road): Services 14, 16, 65 and 175

F1 Garage Pop-Up and Fan Festival

The event began on Saturday, 29 August with a public Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team garage pop-up outside the adidas Brand Centre Orchard, offering immersive 15-minute guided garage tours throughout the day.

After the race demos on Sunday, festivities continued at Design Orchard's rooftop with a Fan Festival from 4pm to 10pm, featuring live performances by Singapore artistes Benjamin Kheng and Iman Fandi, a set by DJ Kiara, and a ticketed BABYMONSTER fan engagement session.

About the Event

Expected to draw more than 30,000 fans, adidas Orchard Ignition ran from 29 to 30 August ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix (9-11 October). The free public event gave motorsport and music fans a rare close-up of an F1 car on Orchard Road's iconic shopping strip.
