My go to Japanese cuisine at Orchard. Love the sashimi, fresh and worth every buck spent. Lobster salad is also very nice! The cod fish soup is also a must order if you love soupy dish.

We visited Wasabi Tei on a Saturday for late lunch, the walk-in wait was immediate. Ordered the Aburi Salmon Maki ($18), Aburi Cheese Ebi Maki ($14), Kani Karaage ($15), Tori Katsu Tamagotoji Teishoku set ($14), Torikaraage & Soba Goma ($14) and Iced Ocha refillable ($2). There's no service charge and GST here. Payment mode is limited to either Cash or Paynow/PayLah. The Kani Karaage is fried to perfection, it was crispy and flavourful. Aburi Salmon Maki not only looks pretty but tasted fantastic with its unique mango sauce. Aburi Cheese Ebi Maki tasted light, and Ebi inside was very crispy. Tori Katsu Tamagotoji Teishoku set came with rice, a salmon sidedish, miso soup and fruit (either orange or watermelon), it very tasty and appetizing. We polished off everything we ordered, although the Torikaraage & Soba Goma wasn't how we expected it to be, can give this a miss. IMO definitely worth a visit and the price is reasonable for the portion they give. The service here is relatively fast and great, and it's ideal for small group of family/friends as they have very limited seats.

First time here, didnt know we can just head in for the empty seats. Place currently only 2 chefs doing everything from cooking, collecting money and other stuffs so do need to be patient. The Set Meals are very worth it, maki and sashimi were great.

This place is very mid, not sure what’s up with the hype. The tuna tastes like the kind from the conveyer belt that has been left there the whole day. Sure the slices are thick, but quality and price wise is no where amazing. $37 for that bowl is definitely super average. The salmon unagi maki also took awhile to be served, not an issue but I’m not sure what’s the yellow sauce. I thought it’ll be like the shiok maki kind but it’s some super sweet sauce which totally doesn’t pair well with the roll. Overall I left quite disappointed especially with the high expectation I had. Good thing is there’s no ++ but that’s about it. I also didn’t have to wait long, a short queue at about 2pm but it cleared very quickly and I was able to sit in a corner facing the wall at the side.

Enjoyed the food and sake. Family is happy we got seats together and enjoyed every dish. It is priced fairly and portions filling you up. But as there are limited seats, please do not expect a place where you can eat and linger too long. Popular with regulars.
