Toast Box at Shaw House (Basement) This is a very popular Toast Box outlet that’s always packed, so I usually visit only after the lunch crowd. Recently tried their new freshly baked banana cake — tasted decent. I highly recommend getting their promotion: 12 cups of kopi for just $23 — very worth it! Service here is prompt and friendly too. Overall, a good stop when you’re in the area.

The staff was super friendly and gave us amazing service, making it a great dining experience. I came here for coffee with my friends. It's a cozy place with a nice vibe. Definitely recommend it!

Uncle is the best coffee brewer. He is not only brewing the drinks with details, he is also paying attention to customers’ orders and able to help his team whenever the cashiers are overwhelmed. The other short hair lady brewer is more careless as she did not close the lid properly and caused spill on my shoes. This never happened with uncle’s sop for the few months. Meanwhile, a black shirt cashier, a young white shirt cashier man and a long hair cashier aunty are presenting a very courteous customer service 🤗🤗 Even other outlets are not as good.

I was queuing for the takeaway line but no one was handling that queue. After a while, the lady (she was first in line) in front of me, went to the dine-in line and prob want to check if she is going to get served. The cashier told her these 2 lines have to merge to the dine in line. The rest of us at the takeout line went huh. And of course we have to to the back of the queue. This young man who was working in the bread baking area being, noticed this and quickly came up to the take out till and asked us to come back. He served 4 people within 2 mins, fast, accurate and very proactive. Prevented disgruntled customers. I do applaud his taking initiative. Toast Box should commend this young man.

I love the curry chicken dish @ Toast Box for years… Toast Box @ Shaw House serves the curry chicken in a claypot - which is unique to this outlet. The curry chicken is super delicious, maybe a tat salty but it’s all good. I love how they allow me to swap out the potatoes for more taupok (bean curd puff) and not giving me grief for my request. At $8 (ala carte) the portion is small relatively, but it’s just nice for one pax and hey, quality not quantity. I’ll take that! I especially love having my curry chicken in the late afternoon / early dinner because it’s no longer crowded, I suppose people don’t want to have caffeine at that time. Negatives: The cafe feels claustrophobic to me during peak hours. The sofa seats need to be re-upholstered please….

Laksa (SGD $10.40) @ Toast Box. . Established in October 2005 under the BreadTalk Group, this brand specialises in heritage Nanyang favourites. . Their rendition uniquely features chewy mee tai bak / silver needle noodles, with medium grainy sweet flavour, easy to eat. . Complements the crisp bean spouts with vegetal sweet flavour, and the springy fish cake with sweet savoury flavour. . No blood cockles here, but the fresh shell on prawns carry lovely sweet savoury flavour. A hard boiled egg half lends eggy sweet flavour. . The rich broth is thick creamy with coconut milk and dried shrimp, with scattering of laksa leaves and sambal belachan. Has milky savoury sweet spicy flavour, yum.

I’d like to share some urgent feedback regarding my recent visit. I ordered your Laksa and specifically mentioned 2–3 times that I did not want any bean sprouts. While the dish was being prepared, I noticed the staff adding bean sprouts and reminded them again. Upon receiving my order, I asked once more to confirm that there were no bean sprouts, and I was assured there weren’t any. Unfortunately, I later discovered that bean sprouts were still included. This was extremely disappointing and potentially dangerous, as I had clearly communicated that I have a bean sprout allergy. Consuming them can cause skin rashes and difficulty breathing for me. I hope your team can take extra care with such requests in future, especially when it involves allergies or health concerns. Mistakes like this can have serious consequences. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The usual fare. Crowded as usual at lunch time. Not a quiet place to be if you desire solitude. Enjoy a cuppa of Java after lunch.
