The Ship Restaurant is a true Singaporean "Old School" ("老字号") legend. It has been at Shaw Centre for as long as I can remember, and stepping inside—with its nautical decor and bustling atmosphere—feels like a comforting blast from the past.
The menu is a great mix of Hainanese-Western classics and local favorites, which makes it perfect for family meals where everyone wants something different.
For the Ladies: The women in my family swear by the Special Sliced Fish Noodles. It’s a comforting, milky broth served with fried fish on the side—a lighter option that never disappoints.
For the Meat Lovers: I personally usually go for the Australian Prime Ribeye Steak (240g), which is always reliable. On this visit, I opted for the US Pork Chops. It was executed perfectly—grilled nicely on the outside but still juicy and tender on the inside.
We ordered the Set Lunches, which are excellent value. They come with the full works: a warm bun with butter, a soup of the day (creamy mushroom this time), a drink, and a dessert choice of ice cream or cake.
Despite being packed at meal times, the service remains prompt and efficient. It’s a reliable classic that I’ll keep coming back to.

Marine-themed restaurant, very nice decor especially if you're into boats. Lunch set was affordable and service was good with friendly staff. The fish soup/noodles is one of their signatures and had quite a good portion size.
There is a 60 min period for dining, which I felt isn't a problem at all. Has that old school western restaurant feel that my family loves. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes!

Pork chop was pretty dry and hard. The onion soup i had was not what i have expected. It was cloudy and heavy. Not the usual clear broth type . Not nice. The set is considered inexpensive. Close to 30, with a soup, mains and dessert. However, unless you really need the formality of a 3 course meal, i rather take my 30 elsewhere to have a better meal.
On service , several waiters/ waitresses that we signalled to , could not see us.

Old schooled restaurant, the lunch set is worth the price. The ribeye was thin but nicely seared although the black pepper sauce was overwhelmingly pepperish. Seafood in the Seafood harvest set was ok.. only the fish was worth it, both prawns and minute scallops were frozen ones. Seabass set was good too although the sauce was too sweet.

Ordered the daily Set lunch of sliced fish noodles with fried fish, which tasted good just like before. Broth was light & not salty. The other item was the Grilled chicken chop with nice crispy fries & garden salad. Didn't disappoint as well - chicken meat deliciously done. Lastly were the desserts with a choice of cream puff or ice-cream and coffee/tea. I chose the chocolate ice-cream which is heavenly. A very enjoyable lunch at The Ship.

Had an enjoyable lunch on a Sunday here. Arrived at around 1140 am and was told we (me & wife) could be seated immediately should we be able to finish by 1pm, as the place is fully booked.
We had no issues with that and were promptly seated by the windows. We ordered from the lunch set:
- Fried fish noodles ($13.90)
- Ship combo ($24.90)
As many of the reviewers here have already mentioned, the fish soup is excellent, broth was very tasty and the portion is generous. The ship combo had a prawn, chicken cheese sausage, grill pork and grilled chicken. It was great though the grilled pork was a tad dry for me.
All lunch sets come with a soup (of course the fish soup does not get one more soup), dessert (we had choice of apple pie or ice cream) and a drink. For me the set lunch was incredible value at the heart of Orchard.
The service we received was also excellent - there was not much waiting for the food and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive.
I cannot believe this is only my first time dining here, but I am sure I will be back again.

The Fish Soup uses snakehead. Big Chunky pieces. Would have been better with if offered choice of Batang, Snapper or Salmon.
Seafood Spad is good. Enough fresh seafood for a hearty meal.
Seems like the old style food offering is gone.
But still very value for money considering Orchard Road vicinity.

I had the milk fish soup noodle at The Ship Restaurant (Shaw Centre) and really enjoyed it. The broth was flavorful, the fish was fresh and crispy, and the portion was generous.
The lunch set price are very affordable, especially for Orchard Road. The restaurant has a nostalgic charm, though a little old-school. Overall, a satisfying and value-for-money meal—I’d happily come back.

Used to love their lamb chops (served in hot plate previously) and fish bee Hoon soup. However, my recent visit was disappointing. Firstly, the waiter did not ask how we wanted it to be done. And true enough the chops were tough. Baked potato was hard in the middle. Fish soup was alright and the fried fish saved the day. Lobster bisque was just starch with lobster flavour. Fried chicken cutlet was tasteless and weird combi with pancake & bacon. The saving grace was the oxtail stew. Don’t think we will visit again though it’s a pity, a brand that I grew up with, lots of fond memories of how good the food was, served by very service oriented staff who were with the restaurant for decades.

Their lunch set is honestly such a good deal. You get a main, soup, drink, and dessert for a really reasonable price. I was told their steak is a must-try, so I went for it. The steak was cooked perfectly to my request (medium rare) and the fries were pretty solid too.
The only downside for me was the capsicum sauce. I could barely taste any capsicum, and it felt more like a thin brown sauce with a few bits of capsicum thrown in. It didn’t really do much to bring out the flavour of the steak.
That said, I really enjoyed the ambience and the service was great. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes, especially the fish soup which looked really tempting.
