Just decided to hop in to look at watches, and Mr Raymond Ang is such a delight to chat with. Not pushy, very knowledgeable, very engaging.
It was such a joy to chit chat with him as well. Very friendly SA, small talks about your hobbies, life, passion, about watches (he’s very enthu about it as well). Definitely fun talking to him.
Although, there isn’t any watches on sale atm, I really hope this can be a stepping stone to building a relationship together! If you are looking at watches or need a friendly SA, Mr Raymond is the one to go to.

It was our first visit to The Hour Glass at Takashimaya, and Ivan made both my husband and me felt like longtime customers. He was welcoming, patient, and extremely knowledgeable about watches — sharing fascinating insights about the history and movements of different timepieces.
I had the chance to try on the Land-Dweller 36 in Oystersteel and managed to register my interest in other models.
Ivan’s professionalism and genuine passion for horology made our visit truly enjoyable. Highly recommend speaking to him (Ivan Stepanov) if you’re visiting THG at Takashimaya!

Impeccable service by Pui Theng. Warm, welcoming and a highly personal experience. As a watch collector, I brought my antique Patek Philippe Circa 1902 Pocket Watch from the 19th century into the boutique to seek advice on pulling out the extract from the archives for this beautiful time piece that is over 120 years old. Pui Theng patiently facilitated an appointment for me at the service center for that purpose.
I also tried on the classics from the Aquanaut, Calatrava and Nautilus lines. Before I knew it, more than an hour passed by. It can only be attributed to Pui Theng who made the experience so seamless as we took the time to appreciate the time pieces and chatted about the beautiful art of watchmaking. Truly a top notch visit. The historical, generational, masterful craftsmanship of the Patek Philippe Brand at its finest.

Today was my father's birthday and after tuition he picked me and my brother to meet my mother at Takashimaya.
At first, I thought we would go to some fancy dinner place and enjoy the night but instead we arrived at a watch store, Uncle Desmond offered him a limited edition watch and he started observing the watch carefully. When father decided to buy that watch, he was on cloud nine and even a huge grin was plastered across his face.
Before we leave the store Uncle Desmond recommended us a sushi restaurant and even gave us many chocolates! It was a very memorable day for my family and I. Thank you Uncle Desmond and his team for helping us today.

On 29 September 2025, my fiancée and I arrived early for dinner with my family at Takashimaya. We decided to walk into The Hour Glass; my first time stepping into the boutique. Honestly, I had always avoided going in, thinking it was never the “right time” or “right reason.”
We were greeted by Nicholas, who made the whole experience comfortable from the start. I asked to try the Datejust 36 and 41, and he brought them out without hesitation, taking the time to chat with us about the pieces. I mentioned I was looking for a watch to celebrate a personal milestone and had browsed around but hadn’t found the right one.
Nicholas suggested the Explorer 1, which I tried, though the Datejust was still the watch I was drawn to. At some point, I shared that it was my 31st birthday that day. I wasn’t expecting anything; we simply continued the conversation.
He mentioned he might have an Explorer 1 available and went to check. When he returned, he had a “white-faced” piece in a box. “Not sure how you’d feel about this?” To my surprise, it was a Datejust 41, Smooth Bezel, Oyster Bracelet.
I didn’t know whether to cry or be excited. Once I tried it on, any reservations I had about the 41mm size disappeared. The Explorer 1 was no longer in question; this was it. As someone with no prior purchase history, I never expected to be allocated a piece on my first visit; let alone on my birthday.
When my mum arrived, she couldn’t help but ask, “Any discount?” probably the next best moment of the day.
Nicholas handled the rest with the same care. He resized the watch, explained how to set and adjust it, prepared the box, and finally handed me the card dated with my 31st birthday.
It was a memorable experience; a very special way to mark this milestone. Thank you, Nicholas, for making my first Rolex purchase such a meaningful one.
