My husband brought me to this tempura bar by Shige San and we had such a wonderful time and experience! The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, with a warm and welcoming vibe from the staff. We took the Set A and some add-ons. Every piece of tempura was fried to perfection (light, crisp, and not oily) really highlighting the freshness of the ingredients. The chef’s attention to detail made the whole experience feel special, almost like a performance. Beyond the food, the service was excellent: both Shige San and Mei San was very attentive, and took the time to explain the dishes, which added to the appreciation of each course. Pairing it with their sake selection made the evening even better. If you’re looking for a dinner place that blends quality, artistry, and comfort with a personal touch, this tempura bar is a must-visit. In terms of pricing, this would be one of the affordable ones too! We’ll definitely be coming back for more!

Amazing tempura, attentive service and very extensive menu - especially loved the mochi and camembert tempura, and the tile fish and kisu fish. Very cosy environment for date night or a meet up with a dear friend.

Cozy ambience that feels just like Japan. Fresh ingredients, and the sake from Tohoku is excellent. You can really see the chef’s passion—each piece of tempura is fried to perfection.

Amazing food, questionable fumes… The food is so nice. Not a single bad dish. However, the fumes/vapour when the chef is cooking the tempura dishes make my eyes STING. MY EYES HURTS throughout the dinner… it’s not just me. My friends also felt that their eyes hurts/sting/sensitive. All of us were wearing spectacles !! I can’t even open my eyes at times during the dinner especially when the chef was cooking. Once the cooking stops for a while, my eyes are ok again. Food is very nice! Would come again but next time I’ll bring those lab experiment goggles to cover my eyes entirely. Or maybe if the chef were to provide something to cover our eyes because the food is really very nice…

Quite literally a hole-in-the-wall joint, serving up some delicious and authentic tempuras. Located on the ground floor and at the back of Orchard Plaza lies this hidden gem, with just 8 seats and barely much room to maneuver. It kinda reminds me of the restaurants in Japan. The menu is quite extensive with choices of sets and ala-carte items. The starters (sashimi and aburi engawa) were both tasty. Stars of the night were the beautifully done tempura pieces, each fried to a golden perfection with the lightest of batter. With the chef hailing from Japan and having spent much time in Singapore, you’re in good hands. His creations definitely brought out the freshest umami of the seafood and vegetables. If I were to nitpick, the assistant could have offered to refill the drinks more promptly. All in all, a place definitely worth visiting, for value-for-money tempura!
