This place is more intimately known to its regulars as “ah Chai”, the name of the co-owner and chef. I used to work in the vicinity and we frequented this place because of it reminded us of our parents’ type of cooking. Unfortunately, our office relocated, and their business went through a dip. Their food has nonetheless retained its amazing flavour. Definitely give a perfect 5 star rating for this place for value and flavour.

The best fried bihun for breakfast that I could find so far. 很有古早味。
The fried carrot cake is recommended too. The herbal soup set lunch is good also.
Friendly old couple running the shop which makes you feel at home and well taken care of.

I was looking for the Ana Bookstore, and turned a corner 4 doors down I could smell it; the fragrance of braised pig trotter. I literally stopped dead in my tracks and looked around, how can this be I came so many times and never knew?!
Walked closer and closer and I couldn't believe it. This stall name doesn't seem Chinese at all, but look at the menu, its a rojak of so many amazing food.
The pig trotter I won't say already you just come and eat then you talk to me. But I regret not ordering the carrot cake. Someone else ordered and when it came out I was like holy what the this is heaven but black and chewy form?
Then got the nasi lemak; the rice win already. Then got the herbal chicken soup? I don't know what else to say leh.
Most amazing of all as of 2025 this place has been opened for 38 years. Uncle and Auntie are so friendly somemore, I sit here and eat I also feel like I'm back at my grandparents' place you know? Eat already I want to drop 10 tears.
Love Tanjung Pinang!
