If you love local flavours with a creative twist, this place truly delivers. The standout for me was the Orh Nee Brûlée Toast. The yam filling was incredibly smooth, fragrant and rich — the kind of Orh Nee that instantly makes you smile. The brûlée top added the perfect caramelised crunch. I ordered Orh Nee Chicken Floss filling, but personally, the Orh Nee flavour is so strong (in a good way!) that I felt the floss got a little lost. I’d recommend going full-on yam and definitely adding the brûlée layer. The Pesto Pasta with Mushroom was a hearty, comforting vegetarian option with well-balanced flavours, and the Hazelnut Toast tasted like warm, chocolatey comfort. I also tried the Mint Milo Kopi, which surprised me — minty, nostalgic, and refreshing all at once. Outside the festive menu, the Sambal Carbonara Chee Cheong Fun is a must-order if you enjoy bold, fusion flavours. The Matcha Red Bean Toast is consistently good, and the Orh Nee Kopi adds a fun local spin to your usual coffee order.

I have always wanted to try their yam toast after seeing all the online recommendations and it didn’t disappoint. My family loved their yam toast, especially the original one. We loved their yam coffee too! The overall price is slightly more expensive than regular Yakun or Toast Box but it is still a great experience. The only concern we have is their limited seats available so come during non-peak period. We will definitely come back again.

I’ve heard a lot about SuuKee Coffee from friends who work at one-north, and finally got the chance to try it for myself at Scotts Square. SuuKee really brings the usual coffee and toast game in Singapore to new heights with their creative flavors and innovative touches. Super love the Orh Nee toast and Matcha Toast (the pairing with red bean is so genius) and they even incorporated Orh Nee into milk tea! Soooooo good for an Orh Nee fan like myself. If you haven’t tried, you really should. Prices are so reasonable considering their location too!

The orh nee with butter toast was a great alternative to the usual kaya butter toast. The orh nee paste was light and not overwhelming, and goes well with the butter. The bread was also toasted just right. Also tried the mains on my return visit - the spam with scrambled egg rice bowl and the curry chicken with scrambled egg rice bowl were both good!

Tried the OG Orh Nee Toast and Orh Nee Coffee. The Orh Nee had a creamy texture with a subtle yam flavour. Personally, I’d love the yam taste to be stronger. For the coffee, we went with the hot version so we didn’t get that pretty gradient effect. The heat caused the yam paste to dissolve quite a bit which made the yam flavour faint though there were still some nice little yam bites at the bottom. The coffee itself was aromatic and balanced in sweetness.

The salted egg chicken karaage was good-- huge portion, juicy chicken, not too oily or salty. I came for the orh nee toast, which I found good, not great. Would have liked a more tasty orh nee. This was one was too mild. Skip the orh nee teh. It didn't really gel well, literally. It's a blob of yam sitting in the bottom of the cup.

I initially tried Suukee Coffee at their one-north outlet that’s only open on weekdays, so I’m really glad they now have more accessible locations across town. As a big fan of orh nee, their signature toasts definitely lived up to expectations! I had the Orh Nee Pork Floss Toast ($4.20), which came with a generous spread of smooth, mildly sweet yam paste balanced by the savory pork floss. The caramelized orh nee brulee topping (+$0.50) was a real game changer - slightly smoky with a thin crunchy layer of caramelized sugar that contrasted beautifully with the creamy filling. I just wished the bread was toasted a little longer to stay crisp under all that orh nee. The Orh Nee Boba Teh ($6.60) was also really interesting. I got half taro and half red bean boba. The taro had a jelly-like texture, while the red bean version had little bits of bean inside, which I loved. The tea itself was fragrant and not overly sweet, pairing well with the smooth orh nee paste. It’s a rich and filling drink, though on the pricier side, so I’d probably get the regular teh next time. 📸 For more reviews, check out @hangry.potatoo on instagram.

I finally tried Shu Kee toasts at their new Scotts Square outlet and it didn’t disappoint. The new outlet also serves Exclusive Matcha Toast series and hearty lunch options. Their Matcha is so earthy with bitterness profile , surprisingly goes well with the Orh Nee and redbean combination. Our other favorites are Orh Nee butter toast, the best creamy combination and Sambal Carbonara which is creamy yet not jelak as the sambal balanced out the creaminess with an Asian twist 😋. Their curry chicken tasted home-cooked Lemak flavor, unlike those very thick and coconuty kind, and best part is they use boneless chicken. Though the drinks are pretty average, I will definitely go back for their toasts and sambal pasta 😋!!

$8.90 - orh nee butter set with signature white teh (+$0.40) My first time at suukee i had the orh nee toast, the toast was soft and orh nee was dry. Today the toast was crispy and much better with the butter. They have a large menu and some drinks that local cafes don't have, like white kopi and white teh, which was creamy and fragrant and not acidic. Eggs were good too. Edit: came back for kopi-c, white kopi, sambal carbonara and sambal cheong fun. The kopi-c was quite strong, and the sambal carbonara is worth a try but I wouldn't have it too often. Toast is still their best menu item here.

The orhnee toast was splendid and I think this remains the only kopi rest stop holding Scotts Sq. Pleasant environment with many seats though they were pretty much full through the entire weekend from morning to noon. The matcha and red bean toast options do seem pretty appetizing through the menu as well and will be back. One area for improvement could be streamlining the queue for customers who are just grabbing a single cup of coffee, so they don’t get held up behind larger or more complex orders like full meals.
